So guys, I just found out that gog denied another old RTS called Sun Age: Battle for Elysium. I was looking forward to the games release here since the dev said a bit more then half a year ago that he want's to release it here. The game itself plays like C&C in a post apocalyptic setting and is meant as a homage to the classical RTS genre.

Last post from the dev on Steam forums now shows the game was denied by gog for being to niche. This excuse is kind of getting old.

Some gameplay video of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMscA595cEM

So if you wan't to see this game here at some point then vote for it and help change gogs mind:

Voted, this game looks pretty rad.
I was reading the reviews (steam) and one wrote, "Cat herding simulator". LOL

How is it an old game, it was released in 2014?

The game was released in retail in 2007 by the publisher Lighthouse Interactive that screwed the dev over and he didn't get a cent from that. The dev managed to release the game on Steam by himself (as an indie) in 2014 with improvements and a lot of bug fixes. One good thing is the game has continuous support.

Do you like "sounds like an uninspired Starcraft clone cash-in" better? "Too niche" is GOG's marketspeak codewords for "your game sucks". GOG is a business, they'll sell anything that'll increase their overall profit. The True and Honest [tm] answer will always be "we think selling your game is a bad business decision for us". That's it. Print it out and tape it to your monitor.

Now you may argue that the game doesn't actually suck, but don't act like GOG is being somehow dishonest. The discussion starts and ends with "will it sell and bring us money, or will it flop and add to the glut of bad games [NSFW link] that'll make people stop following release announcements".

All I can say is there is more or less no classical RTS game on the market that isn't a clone of C&C, Warcraft or Starcraft since those games created the genre and more or less every other game in the genre is judged by them. On the other side I do own the game in retail form and I do know its good although it did have some issues in its early stage. At the end it wouldn't be the first time that gog would release a game that it denied before if there were enough demand for it of course. Eitherway I respect your opinion though I might not agree with it.
