dtgreene: Fortunately, this device is known to work with at least one version of Linux (the kernel), as it was actually marketed as a Linux tablet (but came with Android installed).
It can boot from a microSD card, so actually running Linux. Furthermore, the Allwinner A10 seems to be reasonably well supported in the kernel, with an open source video driver being merged into mainline as of Linux 5.2 (which is a far newer version than what was out at the time I got this tablet).
immi101: in that case just ignore my post ;)
good to see that some vendors actually care about mainlining their code. That's definitely worlds ahead than the support for all the Qualcomm SoCs.
Actually, it's not the vendor, but rather the community, that did that. For example, the open source Lima driver (for the Mali GPU) I believe was made by the community through reverse engineering.
On the other hand, the vendor did provide a working Linux kernel and distribution, so there was something to use before drivers reached mainline.
