It could be a problem with galaxy. Try and download the offline installers and see what happens.

Edit: Some people on the gog reddit report the same problem so It should be a bug with galaxy

Offline installers? What's that?

Go to the game page, look for the extras, and download the installer. Everything you download from the extras page should be in your Galaxy folder somewhere. Use the installer and scan the game with Galaxy, although it should pick it up on its own.

I have the problem with Baldur's Gate 1 and Icewind Dale 1, but not with the other games.

Edit: It's worth mentioning that all GOG games work without having to use Galaxy. I used it as a downloader but to remove clutter from my desktop I ended up using it as a client too. Some games require it for networking purposes though. Not all of them, however, like those who are able to connect players directly or depend on the devs/publishers' servers to work, like the Divinity games or the Beamdog "enhanced editions".

All games on GOG can be installed without a client (galaxy) which you can then save them in an external hard drive if you care about that. I will attach a picture on how to download the offline installers.Hopefully you will figure how to do it. It is not that difficult. Maybe someone else can explain it better than me.

That one line sums up gaming nowadays. To answer, back in days of yore when you brought a game it came as a set of file and an installer. The installer copied the files to correct areas. What happens now is there is a client with a big green button that hides all the “complexity” of this behind a front end.
The benefit and sole point of shopping at gog is that you can still get the files and installer without needing the client. They are of course well hidden as all companies want you subservient to their clients. If you goon the website, login and hover on your username and select your library. Open the game in question and look below the the big blue galaxy downloads area you will see offline installers which you can expand. There will be 1 exe minimum and possibly some bin files. Download all these fully and put in a folder then run the exe. You can also keep those files and back them up for any future time you might want to use them. And you can also uninstall galaxy.
