Hello everyone. I am hoping that I can find someone .here that knows what I am talking about and can help me. I am trying to run Stronghold on my computer. The super old version of Stronghold that came out in 1993. I am using DosBox to run it, yet it seems to run really slow between screens. When on one screen the game runs fine. The people on screen will move about normally, the sound sounds right, and the construction projects continue as normal. It is when I move the camera to another screen that the slowdown occurs. The is a significant pause before it will show the next screen, almost like it is having a hard time loading the information. The same pause is noticed any time I go into a character screen. Is the some setting I do not know about in DosBox that I might have wrong?

Also, on a side note, I noticed that the game is now available to purchase on the GOG site. How does this version run? Does it still rely on DosBox, or does GOG have their own software to run it.

Thank you to anyone that can help.

I know that Stronghold was pretty intensive in its day. Have you tried increasing your CPU cycles on DOSBOX? If you haven't, try that. If you have, then try adding a frameskip. You can find the key combinations which will allow you to set those things, here: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Special_Keys
All DOS games here on GOG use Dosbox.

Lord_Kane: The Stronghold here is Stronghold HD which runs in windows.
Different Stronghold.
And none of Firefly's Strongholds are DOS games, so none use DOSBox.

Bobaloochi: .
It uses Dosbox, but probably with custom settings. I've just tested the game on Linux and it works fine. I assume it should be just as well on Windows.

Thank you. Increasing the cycles fixed the issue. I really thought that I tried that already, but with how much better it is running now, that was obviously not the case. Maybe I was hitting alt instead of ctrl. Who knows. Thank you very much for the assistance everyone, and thank you OneFiercePuppy for the solution.
