I am interested in purchasing Stronghold Crusader 2 Special Edition, at GOG, but I would like to know if the bonus first Stronghold Crusader HD that comes with it, has all the extras of the stand-alone version - Classic Edition, Extreme & Warchest extras?

JMich has told me that he thinks I probably would get them, based on his memory etc, so can anyone else confirm this is so ... hopefully GOG themselves?

Stronghold Crusader 2 Special Edition is currently $7.69 AUD here at GOG.
While Stronghold Crusader is $6.39 AUD.
So for a little over a dollar more, I can seemingly get both games by purchasing the Special Edition. But I would definitely like the extras too.

P.S. I tried to contact the publisher of Stronghold to find out some more info about their later games, but would you believe, they wanted me to install a plugin for Captcha ... not bloody likely. When since do you create hurdles for your customers.

JMich is correct, you will get a gift code for redeeming (see attach).

Thanks for that Olauron.
I own Stronghold Crusader HD, and I'm not seeing anything about "Extreme and Warchest Extras" though I do see the Classic Edition for Windows and Mac.

Am I missing something here?

EDIT: Or I guess I should ask, what is this "Extreme and War Chest Extras" that you speak of?

I think we may be getting confused between 2 similar title series here. I was staying out of this since I'm not familiar with these titles.

Stronghold Crusader HD comes packaged with content from both the Stronghold Warchest and Stronghold Crusader Extreme, including an increased unit cap of 10,000, new missions and special Tactical Powers.

LOL, nope, it's just me being stupid. Again. I totally missed that. Or rather must have read right over it. After your quote I went back and looked again and it's right there... right in front of me... couldn't be any plainer... LOL and I still missed seeing it.

I need another cup of coffee.
I also wonder if the OPTIONAL CONTENT FOR PURCHASE shown at the standard version of Stronghold Crusader 2, which is not shown for the Special Edition, might be part of it ... though those DLC are not mentioned.

Stronghold Crusader 2: The Templar & The Duke
Stronghold Crusader 2: The Emperor & The Hermit
Stronghold Crusader 2: The Jackal & The Khan
Stronghold Crusader 2: The Princess & The Pig
Stronghold Crusader 2: Freedom Fighters mini-campaign
Stronghold Crusader 2: Delivering Justice mini-campaign

All around 50% off at the moment.

No. None of them are included.
OldFatGuy - Wikipedia has a bit more detail about those editions and when they came about.

Grargar: No. None of them are included.
Thanks.

A shame ... I guess there will be yet another version in the future then, just to give joy & sadness.\

FEEDBACK

Well, I can at least confirm that things were as suggested & shown, and that there is a download link for the Classic version of Stronghold Crusade as well as the HD version. Beyond that, without installing it, I don't know about the other goodies, but I am very hopeful. A mini game link is also listed.

Thanks guys.

Don't forget to mark Olauron's (or whoever's) post as the solution. ;)
Noticing the actual file names of the two EXE files I downloaded, I think it leaves no doubt as to what is the likely versions. :)

setup_stronghold_crusader_extreme_hd_1.4_(14769).exe
setup_stronghold_crusader_2.0.0.2.exe

The HD installer comes with both standard HD and extreme HD (now 16K!!!! =P) in the package. The Extreme version is considered by many quite a broken experience, so you might find the standard game with HD support more to your liking.

Every time I see SHC2 on sale I'm somewhat tempted to grab it, but then I remember all the negative reviews it got. I'm still waiting for GOG to get SH2 and Legends. =/ It shouldn't be a rights problem anymore since it appears that all of the Stronghold game rights have reverted back to Firefly, i.e. the Stronghold Collection on Steam which was previously a 2K property now only lists Firefly as the publisher.

Thanks for the info.

Why is that of late, some of the Store links in my Library, point to the standard version web page of the game, and not the special version I bought, even though it definitely exists and is a separate page? This is the case for Stronghold Crusader 2 Special Edition.

I did read some of the negative reviews on its page here, but they seemed to be more focused on bad company behavior rather than the game itself.

That said, I really looked at purchasing Stronghold Crusader 2 Special Edition, for Stronghold Crusader HD and it's goodies, which I was going to purchase at the sale price of $6.39 AUD, when I became aware that for another $1.30 AUD I could get Stronghold Crusader 2 as well.

It is of course listed the opposite way, with Stronghold Crusader HD being the bonus. I just happened to come at it from a different direction and see it opposite to that.

So in effect, Stronghold Crusader 2 cost me $1.30, if you want.
