here it goes:

Soooo.... Stranger Things 2, yeah? go see it, it is brilliant!

end of review.
Totally Jealous. I don't have access for 2 more days. :P But if the second season is as good as the first, it's definitely going to be worth watching.

How can there be stranger things 2? Surely there are things, and stranger things?

Àn indie game? Movie? Apparently a TV-series?

Searching on imdb.com, it found two TV series called "Stranger Things", both apparently horror-themed?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1460534/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4574334/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

I saw no "Stranger Things 2" listed in imdb.com, so is this about season 2 of the latter TV series? Any connection between those two TV-series besides the name and horror theme?

I don't think there's any connection. The thread is about the latter of those two, or it's second season to be exact. Basically it's a ridiculously overrated Netflix series that rips of every 80s cliche it can with none of the charm or talent of those movies. I don't know how you escaped the everpresent hype for it but boy do I envy you.

So, are you one of these binge racers I keep reading about? ;)

There are strange things, and there are stranger things too ...

I honestly mean no offense, and please take this as lighthearted as I wish I could make it sound, you seem like an okay guy otherwise, but (unless I'm conflating you with someone else), it really is hilarious (and I do mean funny, in the sense it makes me laugh) how you genuinely dislike almost everything I like or am indifferent to, and find things I dislike to be genuinely good, even when (especially when?) in both cases, the general as well as critical consensus is on my side as well. Adding to the hilarity is how you often phrase your critiques and reviews as the most obvious thing in the world, and of course anyone would agree with you.

If I'm not mixing you up with someone else, you liked Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad(?), and disliked everything recent related to Star Wars (I almost suspect you like the prequels. Do you like the prequels? :P), everything related to Marvel (did you like Iron Fist? Again, it almost seems like you'd like Iron Fist :P), Blade Runner, Stranger Things etc. So much so that when I see your post in a discussion about some piece of media, I know "Okay, here's going to be a contrary opinion". I mean, it's always nice to be able to see differing points of view, I guess.

I don't mean in any sense to be offensive, I just find it really funny, and figured this would be as good a place as any to ask you about it.

Gog is a fun little place, with so many interesting people :D.

Also, Stranger Things, yay! Didn't need a season 2, but okay, yay, whatever!

Well, it's obvious to me, and I don't give a rat's ass about the general or critical consensus one way or the other. You might disagree with me 100% of the time, but at least you can be sure you're getting my honest opinion.

babark: If I'm not mixing you up with someone else, you liked Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad(?),
I love Man of Steel. I like BvS but I acknowledge it's far from perfect (the Director's Cut or whatever it's called is markedly better). Suicide Squad I enjoyed on the most basic "dumb action movie to see with friends" way, I certainly wouldn't praise it any higher.

babark: and disliked everything recent related to Star Wars
Here you definately have me mixed up. I liked Rogue One a lot. I've seen it twice, had great fun both times. Liked the characters, the visuals and the return of my favourite SW villain - Tarkin. I do however think Force Awakens is terribly boring and redundant, with no interesting ideas, terrible villains and bland protagonists.
avatar
babark: (I almost suspect you like the prequels. Do you like the prequels? :P)
I hate them with a passion, they are terrible movies. However, I still find them more interesting than Force Awakens - they do have plots of their own, new places, new memorable designs. They suck much worse than Force Awakens, but at least they are memorable and distinct and leave you with something to talk about.
avatar
babark: , everything related to Marvel (did you like Iron Fist? Again, it almost seems like you'd like Iron Fist :P)
Not everything. I liked first Thor and the first Avengers. And Winter Soldier, sort of. The rest is between meh and horrible. And no, I didn't like Iron Fist. It was just boring and dumb. I liked the first season of Daredevil, but got bored quickly in the second.
avatar
babark: , Blade Runner,
Again, you have me mixed up. It's my favourite sf movie, one of my favourite movies in general. I love it like crazy. And I think BR 2049 is amazing and a worthy sequel.

Hey, as long as it's kept friendly it's always good to be able to confront ones opinion with others. It's nice to find people who agree with you, but it would boring without contrary opinions, we need those for interesting discussions.

Ok, maybe it is because I don't have a Netflix subscription, and overall I don't really follow TV series that much anymore. I don't recall any daily magazines here discussing about this series either, or I have just forgotten. One magazine still always talks about Game of Thrones and over-analyzes each and every newest episode (I stopped watching at the start of season 2, lost interest).

The older "Stranger Things" TV-series (which was not being discussed here) actually sounded more interesting to me by its IMDB description. As far as I could tell, apparently similar idea as with the legendary The Twilight Zone series. The episode descriptions sounded interesting...

I try to keep up all sorts of "geek news" whether it's movies, comics or tv shows, and the websites that help do so become almost unusable around the time new seasons of Game of Thrones and now Stranger Things get released :P
I still have to watch the first season. For some reason I keep putting it off. *shrug*
