So, I'm trying to purchase some games through GOG and I still get this error whenever I use my debit card or PayPal on the site or the GOG Galaxy client. I could really use some help right now please.

Are you using GOG Galaxy?
Maybe you could try a generic web browser like Firefox or Google Chrome.

Have you *saved* you card credentials before by chance? if yes, delete your card (clear cookies just in case) and input the card manually without saving it.

I would suggest contacting GOG support as they can see if something went wrong in their backend.
I think you should contact your bank. Maybe they've locked your card for purchases from certain countries?
I've been getting the same error message as well and I've tried different credit cards and a debit card. Seems to be an error on the site and i've been waiting an entire week to hear back from support. Totally unprofessional

The bank would call them if it were the case, as they'd view the failed transaction attempts as possible fraud.

I don't think so. I once had a similar problem and my bank just locked the card for 24 hours. They didn't call me though.

I had plenty of problems when trying to purchase anything through GOG years ago - each time I tried, the transaction would fail and I'd get a call less than a minute later from the bank asking me "So, we see this purchase was just attempted... was it you that tried to initiate it?"

It may differ in certain countries, much less different banking institutions overall.

Well I've checked with 2 different banks for 2 different cc cards that were getting the same error on GOG when I tried to fill my GOG Wallet. From what I understand the issue may be GOG's fraud prevention system. The banks have reported no issues on their end.

GOG has straighten the issue out to some people based on some of the forum posts. Seems to be on an individual basis. I am also waiting for my next reply from them.

I think the issue is tied to the user's GOG account based on what I am reading on the forums but I could be wrong. I really hope GOG looks into this as a whole. It really appears to be on their end and maybe some regions. My regeon is US.

Update: Talked to one of my bank's CSR and she said the banks system attempt to communicate with GOG's system failed. At least that's what the bank error code meant according to the CSR. So if I'm unstanding that error correctly, it would seem the bank attempted to transfer or approve the funds to GOG but GOG's system rejected the communication / transaction.

If you are trying to use a "vanilla" brand Visa gift card with paypall or otherwise, it will get rejected endlessly, without any notice or consequence. Some others don't care as long as paypal is the middle man.

I found that one of my cards rejected a payment through paypal to GOG for $90, repeatedly, but ran right through $25 at a time. It is an international transaction for me. Maybe it has to do with how much you are trying to spend at once, especially if it is an international sale for you. Google says GOG is based in Poland if that helps. I suggest trying to buy just one item alone through paypal and see if that goes through.
Definitely call your bank, some of them really freak out about overseas transactions and transactions from Cyprus specifically.

That's been mentioned often over the years, but in the case of this thread LaTaleFanatic1985 mentions a debit card specifically, not a gift or pre-paid card.

GOG doesn't have their operations in Cyprus anymore, they moved in October 2017.
