Anyone heard of this? For some reason, I was super "in the mood" for a game that had spaceship exploration / upgrading and at the same time actually going down to the planets and fighting in turnbased mode. So sort of like Stellaris or Starbound, but a bit more RPG and 100% more turnbased...

... and I found it actually exists! It's called Stellar Tactics - looks like Mass Effect meets Starpoint Gemini meets XCOM - and all awesome.

Here's the URL if anyone's interested: https://www.stellartactics.com/#

It's In Dev on Steam and still being regularly updated - anyone out there seen / heard more about this game? I don't Steam so I'd love impressions if anyone's been following this (or even playing it).

I admit this is a bit of a shameless plug because I'd love to see this here - like I said it was exactly the game I hoped existed when I sort of started poking around a day or two ago when I got curious if such a thing was out there.

Would also love if anyone had any idea of future plans / inside info on the game (release timeframe, whether there's been any percolating about a GoG release, etc).
Well there's the wishlist : https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/stellar_tactics
The Dev is asking for people on the Steam forum to vote for it on the GOG wishlist because he wants to bring it here
Looks good, sooooo, voted for on the wishlist

Seriously? Awesome glad he's already engaged and hoping to bring it here. I've probably only voted for like a dozen games on wishlists but I think I'll make this one +1 (I think I have a pretty decent "hitrate" - Titan Quest and Bloodlines showed up, still waiting on NOLF and Freelancer I think? ;) ).

Thanks for this!
I'm lazy and clicking my way to the voting page is a lot of work but if it helps the game getting past the curators then i guess i have no choice, it does look interesting.
LOL I must have had this type of game in my mind because I had heard of it before - I was on the wishlist (with a comment even!) dating back to 2017.

Going to dig up the old thread (because I must have heard of it here in a thread / maybe even its own thread).
I own it on Steam. It's excellent. It has a Countdown to Doomsday feel to it.
Been on my wishlist since September 2016

Good to hear that it's in fairly nice shape for being not quite finished yet (right - I'm pretty sure the Steam page I saw said it was In Dev still).

Question - is there an overarching "goal" or story in yet? One thing that sort of scared me was the huge number of systems / sectors. I LOVED Mount and Blade, but after a while I sort of wanted a mode with a bit more "direction" - don't get me wrong I still sunk a ton of time into that game but an overarching goal or campaign is a plus in my book. Something like that here or planned? Or is it "here's your stuff, go explore and find a ton of little quests that reveal the lore of the world" ?
Stellar Tactics is a really great game. This game grows slowly, but it already has a decent fan base. I think if everything turns well with sales and reviews on Steam, Stellar Tactics will find its deserved place here on GOG as well.

Great :) Lets hope it passes curation. Its sounds awesome.
Looks nice, although these days all these bits & bobs gameplay features seem a bit overwhelming for me. =/ Yeah, as I grow older I tend to avoid more complex games.
Yeah, feels promising. Definitely worth keeping an eye on. Thanks for the recommendation.
