Thank you for the great opportunity, friend!
I've been thinking, there will always be scammers frequenting threads with free games trying to steal codes for future trades or resales. Then what if gifters would restrict the time one has to redeem the game they've won? Something along the lines of "Congratulations, here's the code. You have X time to redeem it, after which I'll be forwarding it to the next eligible person (regardless of whether you claim to have totally redeemed it already)". That way it would be much harder for scammers to take advantage of people's generosity. A couple of days I think should be enough. What does everyone think?

Isn't steamgifts already enforcing the activation of the won game by the weekly sync? I know for a fact the it won't let you enter giveaways if your profile is outdated. Also, I have a personal rule to add the winner on steam and send them the code in 1:1 private messaging. That way I can ask them to activate the game immediately and in addition I get to meet them and even make new friends. For example I got to meet ciccia22 from one of my GA's and am glad because of it :)

I don't know. I've personally stopped using the site a while ago, since I never really felt confident with synching my game account with it and I've changed my steam email too so I can't exactly check. Still, a week might be giving scammers a little too much leeway to possibly exploit codes. Making new friends or having interesting random conversatons while doing a trade is something I always look forward to. :)

We are talking about steamGIFTS and not steamTRADES, right? The way I see it there is already enough precautions to bring the amount of scammers to a acceptable minimum. The GOG gift club has some requirements of it's own, pretty much the same people enter almost every GA, so you know the people. And in the end it's luck - if a scammer got to enter the group and won the prize - good for them! Everyone had an equal shot at it :) I'm happy when my games go to people who will actually play and enjoy them, not hoard them just because they are free.

Yes, we're talking about steamgifts. If you or anyone else thinks the current rules are enough then it's perfectly okay of course. :) Is there another gog thread about steamtrades specifically? I've been spamming the contents of that post in the most frequently used giveaway/gifting threads for people who might not have thought of that particular option. More ways to keep safe are better than less after all, and people can make up their own minds about it.
Maybe the one person giveaway threads, but steamgifts has this policy of hey that guy did not redeem the game that I sent him for winning my giveaway and they get banned. Getting banned from steamgifts gets you banned from the GOG group which is not what someone wants to do methinks.

Well, I'm not the moderator or any sort of authority for this thread, I'm just your friendly neighborhood GOGger and I only shared my opinion on the matter :)
