Hello, I have reserved a steamdeck.

I was wondering if it was possible to play gog games on linux using proton.

I was also wondering if gog galaxy is present in steamos (achievements, cloud save ...).

It would be great to be able to play gog games on the native steamdeck (linux) system.

My question is if cd project will facilitate it. I read that they abandoned development in linux but I don't know if this is true.
It's not been released yet. So, things can't really be know until it actually gets to that stage and in the hands of people to give it a good going over, to see what sticks, and what doesn't...
Proton is just Wine with modifications like DXVK enabled by default. You don't need Steam to use it, Lutris for example supports Proton and is available for all Linux distributions.
Yes, but my question is whether we will have steamdeck support for gog galaxy with all its functions without the need to install windows.

Galaxy doesn't have Linux support right now so the only way to use Galaxy is through WINE, Lutris does have a simple script you can use to install Galaxy however performance will vary depending on the game.

Using Lutris as a stand alone to install games would be better performance wise but Lutris uses the WINe wrapper and there own personal forks of WINE.

Programs like Gamehub on Linux allows you to use the Proton wrappers as well as other custom wrappers if you have them available.

Yes, you can get Galaxy functions like achievements, playtime and cloud saves using Wine.

It's quirky though - there is like, how should I describe it, massive input lag and jankiness when using Galaxy on linux. Also, I've encountered issues with downloading and installing some games like Grim Dawn and Witcher 3. The installation got stuck at 97%. The solution was to use lgogdownloader to get the offline installers and then point Galaxy to the installation.

TLDR - yes, it will work, just not very smoothly.
Great, but it would be great if the cd project made things easier as we are asking so many users of it.

I appreciate your response.

Even if they released Galaxy for Linux tomorrow none of the Linux games would have working cloud saves or achievements the developers of each game would need to go back and update the Linux version to use the Galaxy API.

Just accept that Galaxy for Linux will never be released:

It's a shame, this rules out gog's support for steamdeck at least in its linux version
