Most people no one longer trust the media

It’s already here (UK), has been for a while. Cameras are on every corner (mostly as police has been mostly disbanded). Facial recognition being used in most cities (at least until found out). Shops scanning cards and people on entry. Everything moving digital helps that too, all money is tracked, AI scanning everything for ostensibly fraud. All your medical history online. Now they are putting smart meters into everything, heck even driving meters in your car so they can check where you go, how you drive. Everyone carries their own snooping device (mobile phone).

I don't quite understand why one would bother creating an extra version of Steam for the People's Republic of China which has limited features and only a handful of games when the international version is accessible meanwhile in the first place. What is the point in Steam even having that version then? Why would someone want to use an inferior version of the same service?

Ouch, I feel for my fellow gamer in China if this is truly as bad as it sounds.

It's akin to the likely reason why Gog chose to not sell Devotion: they likely wanted to placate said country to be able to keep making them china bux.

Because of what just happen. Even if the international version was available there was no guarantee it would always remain the case, by creating a CCP friendly Steam version it insured them that they would keep a hold on the juicy Chinese market even if the government someday decided to block the international version.

But when it's some random wannabe "personality" from youtube who doesn't do any sort of journalistic job reading you the same articles and stretching out 2 minutes of news to a 15 minute episode of his shitty show it somehow magically becomes trustworthy?

Also, why can't the couple paragraphs worth of information be in the random person's blog? Must it be a video? It seems to me the so-called advantages of the video format (including drawing out the information to have just enough of those juicy ad breaks) are entirely for the creator...not for the consumer looking up the information.

Not going to lie, why do people trust youtubers so much?

Say what you will about the media, at least they do some research to back up their claims. And if you are concerned, see if multiple sources run the story. Dont believe some random online dude.

There's no problem with youtube as a source of news in my humble opinion, if you use it well and with sobriety.
There are good channels out there with useful information. Even those that common media wouldn't share, because of many reasons like the drama it would cause with investors, publishers, propaganda companies, etc.

There is a problem when youtube, odissey, bitchute, etc channels are just randomly theorizing things without proof and data. Read well: Without proof and data. Many channels tell truths with proof and data, but they're not acceptable as a reality, so, many just reject them because of how common media treat "truths" that they don't want to be truth for the masses.

Same thing can be said about all things we read, see, watch and so on. We need to judge things well and as unbiased as possible to reach the true truth, I think.
