Hi everyone, I was wondering if GOG is aware of the currency change STEAM performed this week on many countries around the world (I assume they are of course).

Believe it or not in my case it made Steam WAAAAYYYYY cheaper, between 35% and 50% depending on the publisher.

Now my question is...

Is GOG going to push a currency change too so they can compete ith other key sellers regionally???

For me GOG is the place for my RPG games... but the truth is that now Steam is a better option.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers!

I think that this is not a matter of currency but of regional pricing.

I mean, GOG has 1190 regionally priced games in Uruguay[1], and they're on average 40% cheaper than the US price, what seems in line with your percentage estimations.

The problem must be that you are looking at games that for some reason are NOT regionally priced on GOG, so here you are getting the US price.

If GOG introduced Uruguayan Pesos the only thing that would change for you is that you wouldn't have to pay whatever exchange fees your bank charges you for purchasing in USD.

[1] There's actually more, since MaGog only covers games released on GOG until May 2017.

Thanks for the link!!!

You are totally right, my post is based on Pillars of Eternity (Obsidian) which I assume (and based on the info you gave me) that they are not pricing by region... damn I want to play the expansion :)

Anyway, maybe GOG should ask publishers to make the move. For business sake.

I don't know about you but the steam sale with the change in currency will be a blast for many people, Argentina even more than Uruguay, they got a 50% cut in some cases.

Cheers!

Oh, no, it is regionally priced alright, it's just that only Brazil gets a discount in South America.

You could try contacting GOG support and suggesting the issue, but considering how obnoxiously greedy Paradox is, I wouldn't hold my breath. Then again, if they are offering lower prices for your region on Steam, maybe it's worth a try, who knows?

I believe they did that a month ago. Give me a few minutes and I'll find the thread.

edit: I found this post:

There was a thread as well but I haven't had my coffee yet.

Maybe they'll do another one.

reedit: Prices are monitored in this thread:
