Ancient-Red-Dragon: A few people finding the Stickies doesn't change the fact that the Stickying of de-listing threads is still a very bad idea anyway.
Imo it's a good idea as they are easier to find(if one bothers to look)....people just to need to learn to check the stickies and not follow old behavior so much.

(I mean, which makes more sense....a thread on page 1 at all times, or one that can and likely will shuffle off page 1 when no one sees it?)

Even though I usually don't look at stickied threads, today I noticed both the delisting stickies right away.

amok: last time people complaint that a delisting thread scrolled off the page and was invisible because it was not stickied...

RoboPond: It was though.

It seems it was de-sticked an error or something else?
It was "de-sticked" after 5PM UTC, when it was delisted, because no one could buy it after that.

Ah that's fair enough.

I didn't even notice that the date was today.
The best solution IMO would be that these announcements were NEWS and had a blue sphere instead of a green one. If the problem is that those require a NEWS article associated then create one. It's not like it would take the spotlight from other articles.

SmollestLight: We’d like to inform you that Startopia will be delisted from our catalog today, May 27th, 5pm UTC.

For everyone who purchased it prior to delisting, the game will remain in their GOG library.
Thanks for the heads-up. Mucky Foot made Urban Chaos which was delisted not too long ago also, I assume this is related.

Shame though! and already gone, I didn't realize.

I did miss it because it was stickied, but I also understand GOG maybe not wanting to make regular news because it might look like "weakness" to competitors/bad PR. There is no perfect way to handle this.

rodrolliv: I have the theory that sticky threads are mostly ignored since few people expect any news to be "stickied". Either that's what happening with this one, or nobody cares about Startopia.
You'd be right. I always scroll right on by the block of stickied threads and look for those startedy by GOG/Blues.

In this case, where so little notice is given, I'd agree. I probably would have picked this up but for the unusually short time limit. As such, I would suggest something along the lines of:

<24 hours notice: News item + forum sticky
1-7 days: Forum sticky
7+ days: Non-sticky thread, to be made a sticky during the last few days.

Agreed, if itd being pulled quickly put it on the news feed, I didn't see this and I've been on the forum twice today.
Thanks for the heads up.

Just my 2 cents on this discussion (which is a repeat really), stickies are much better than regular forum posts. That people don't look at them is their problem, not GOG's. For anyone actually looking they're way more visible, not scrolling off the first page or getting too far down, not even if they'd be affected by that bug that makes them not list the time of the last post and end up appearing to be even days older. In fact, news posts seem particularly plagued by that bug until somebody replies, so if they'd make "news" post somehow not associated with a front page news article, they might actually be harder to find than regular posts. Stickies are, again, always up there.
Ooooh bummed about this one. This is a game I knew about "back in the day" and that I knew had been well regarded even years later. I remember I made a "short list" way back when I first joined GoG and this game was on it...

... and I never grabbed it. Just never reached a point where I'd be "in the mood" for this type of game, even though it was a bit more of a silly, goofy "fun" management game rather than a stressful hardcore one.

Shame on me I guess :( Sucks.

Daedolon: Thanks for the early heads up.
Hey Daedolon any chance this will be back?

Not asking for me because I already bought it, Asking for others that don't have it yet!

Welp I hope you guys are doing a remaster on a higher scale then

This game (the original, not what's looking to be a terrible remake) is still for sale on Steam. Wonder why it's no longer on GOG...

Different publisher/owner that hasn't negotiated a contract with GOG I assume. Seeing as Urban Chaos is also listed for that entity, maybe the rights have been bought by one/some of the original devs? *shrug*
