Hello,

I would like to ask if there is a way that I can use a command line parameter, or something else, to start a Gog Galaxy Game through Steam in the same way as if I would start it through Gog Galaxy?

I would like to Import my Gog Games library into my Steam library, so that all of my games are in one place. If I do so, is it possible that if I click on play in Steam, that it will not only launch the game but also start the game as if I would start it through Gog Galaxy, so that Galaxy will track my playtime, and I can earn achievements and so on. Is this somehow possible?

Sorry for my english Iam not a native english speaker but I think here are more people so chances are higher that somone might help me

regards

Greetings Mjoelnir.Lets just clear one thing before we tackle the main problem.GOG galaxy games as entities do not exist, but they are actually GOG games run through the Galaxy client which is different. But nevermind that, and to answer your question. Steam has a handy option called "add a non-Steam game" which sits in the Games tab, and when you have installed all GOG games just add them with the above mentioned.Cheers

That doesn't answer his question. He's not asking simply how to add GOG games to the Steam client. He's asking how to add them in such a way that they run through Galaxy even though they are launched through Steam, so that Galaxy will track play time and achievement.

I don't believe it is currently possible, actually. Mind you, I don't use Galaxy myself, so I do not know for sure, but other people have asked similar questions before, and as far as I recall, the answers have so far been that as of now, there is no way to launch a game through Galaxy via command line, which is what would be needed for the OP to do what he wants to do. The only way currently for Galaxy to track play time and achievements is to open Galaxy and launch the game from in there. Even if you install the game through Galaxy, and start the game from the Galaxy-made desktop shortcut, it still doesn't track anything. You have to actually start the game from within the client for it to work.

Somebody please correct me if I'm talking bollocks here.

Yes i didnt read carefully but i understand his question. As you say, this is not possible at the moment because of the different executables and processes that work in parallel.
Sorry for any misinformation, and good luck with finding the solution.Cheers

I haven't used Galaxy myself, so I don't know how accurate this is.

There might be a workaround:
According to
https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/42p46n/questions_about_how_gog_galaxy_tracks_your_time/

You can launch Galaxy with parameters that will automatically open that game's page.

So create a shortcut like so:
"C:\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /gameId=1207664643 /command=launch /path="C:\Games\GOG\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt".

(using the correct galaxy path, game id and game path).
Give the shortcut a proper name.

Add this shortcut to steam by selecting "Add non Steam game to my library" and "browse"

-------------------

This will add the game to your steam library. Running it will run Galaxy with the game's tab open, and you'll have to click "Run" there to run the game.

Not exactly what you asked for, but might be a good enough substitute.

Thanks for the help I guess I have to stay with the workaround than and hope that this system is getting to be improved in the future.
Worked once for me.
Then it never worked again.

instead of /command=launch, use /command=runGame

this should work launching the game, but the controller is not recognized. Maybe if I go to the computer, use the gamepad by the computer to register it, and then go back to TV and try using that one ..... but I would like to avoid that.
