Hello, I would like to know if there is any possibility of this game appearing here on GoG. I used to play this a long time ago and enjoyed it very much. I know the reviews for this game are bad, and as far as I am concerned the main issue were the technical problems (it had a lot of them), graphics weren't really good even at that time (but graphics are one of least important things for me in a game) and the story was bland and linear for some (what did you expect from a game that is about shooting bugs). I tried to get a hold of it so I could to play it after all those years again, it was a pain the ass to even properly start it, but when I managed to get it working I had a blast.
So I was wondering if anyone else shares the same feeling about this game and also would like to have it here on GoG, since it is (sadly) the only game from Starship Troopers universe.
If anyone else is interested you can find videos on youtube (I can't post any links right now on this forum) [just don't expect much the game is 12 years old now]
Any feedback would be great !

YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO RICO!
You can vote for ST games on the wishlist!
1959 -- Starship Troopers the novel. Widely regarded as a fascist piece of shit!
1997 -- Starship Troopers the movie. This one is a satire on fascism, paying homage to Triumph of the Will, SS dresscode, etc. Like just about everyone else, I totally missed the irony, even if it was way heavy-handed, like in "A good bug is a dead bug."
2005 -- Starship Troopers the video game. Like me, it gleefully missed the films layer of irony, accidently making it a more faithful adaptation of the original novel!

Really damn weird, the way stories gets recycled, made ironic and misinterpreted!
What a Starship Troopers game should've been like:

It was great Satire, very clever in parts.

Saw a premier in Nottingham with a bunch of Germans, who didn't laugh once during the entire film.

The Video game was a very good squad game, except for one issue. You could choose formation (wedge, line , square and so on) but as far as I could tell you couldn't choose its orientation. A Wedge isn't very effective side on.

Hey, it always helps to do research on who developed and published the game, and who might have the rights now. Unfortunately I wouldn't get my hopes up because the game is (I assume) based on copyrighted material/uses movie footage apparently. Also the game got low reviews (perhaps unjustified) so that probably affects the priority level of GOG trying to re-release it (compared to, say, The Thing game). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_Troopers_(video_game)#Reception

However, I'd encourage you to tweet or otherwise contact Nightdive Studios; they do resurrection work too, and may be willing to research this and try to take this farther than GOG may.

Also, it doesn't hurt to vote if you'd buy a GOG release: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=starship+troop

Actually, it isn't the only game. I never played this Starship Troopers FPS (so yes, I'd welcome it here on GOG too), but I did play a Starship Troopers RTS game. Think I got about halfway through the game. It's called Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy, and has events from the film for some of the missions.

Terran Ascendancy came out in 2000, so it is even older.
