CymTyr: Not gonna lie, my buddy talked me into getting it and I regret the $70. I should have known better but I got it anyway.

Waiting on a total conversion mod to come in.
My suggestion; Always wait for it to go on sale and be under $20.

Also never buy on year one, especially a Bethesda game.

J Lo: It's the same with Call of Duty. They give an old game a fresh coat of paint and call it a new game.

Syphon72: Yakuza and Dynasty warriors do this as well. But it's okay when Japan dose it.
Those games [excluding the latest DW that screwed the pooch because it changed everything entirely, anyway] are at least fun and do what they set out to do. Bethesda games have always been mediocre at best, never doing anything very well. It's a surprise they've ever been considered anything otherwise or found the success they did.

Bethesda games are mediocre to us, but it's obvious that many people love their games. DW hasn't been fun since 7 imo. Let's not forget about all the damn spin-offs.
Bethesda-made games have always been mediocre at best, IMO.

The only thing that makes them good are mods created by end users.
Yep, it sure is a game of all time.

But Bethesda is exactly the reason why I dock points from a game store if people excuse the issues by a game by modding around them.

"Modders will fix that!" *rolls eyes* Yeah, no, it's a bad sign when the community has to fix a dev studio's game because they suck at making games. Nobody should have to put up with that. Thankfully though, by and large, Bethesda RPGs (Morrowind and later) were trouble-free enough in their patched-up vanilla states that I could still thoroughly enjoy them well after development for them had stopped.

I'll eventually get around to Starfield... around the time when ES6 releases? ;)

Hey, I'm glad I got out of Pokemon when I did. ;) The switch to 3D has been a complete nadir to them.

And hey, I got to Daggerfall only 20+ years after the fact!

Breja: Ok.

So, what do we do now?
Good question, I for one need to recover from this revelation, still can't wrap my head around it. :/

8 was also good. 9's the latest and the one where the fucked everything ("let's make it a barren open world game")
Spinoffs? Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi were both good "reskins".
Strikeforce was OK, but lacked couch co-op.
Hyrule Warriors is one of the best renditions of the formula by far.
Dragon Quest Heroes were both good (if you ignored the grind problems.

But yeah, there are a lot of them. I'm sure some of them have been not so good.

But not liking DW is usually down to not liking the genre at all (which is fine!). Even fans of Bethesda games typically recognize they're not so goodand relish in their jank and bugs. They're truly only popular because of being a mod framework (and popular because popular).

Low Standards: I don't know if GOG sells this game or I am going to get banned, but wow!
I don't think calling a Bethesda game a Bethesda game is a bannable offence...

I'm one of the few people who dislike DW8. SW 1,2 was great, 3 was terrible, and 4 was okay.

I've never been a big fan of WO, but 3 was good. I was disappointed with 4 not adding Bladstorm or Warriors of Troy's characters into the game.

Hyrule Warriors was incredible, and never got around to playing Dragon Quest Heroes.

Some of my favorite Warriors spinoffs are Fist of the North Star, Ken's Rage, and Dynasty Warriors Gundam.

You are correct about Bethesda fans recognizing they're games are not so good and relish in their jank and bugs. It's just baffling that people will keep buying a game that needs mods to be good.

Edit: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was really good with the mixed of strategy/beat em up

Poor guy, he wants to be edgy so badly, and the best he came up with is ranting about a game pretty much no one has any strong feelings about.

Low Standards: Wow, what a great post. Most people on Steam have buyer's remorse and must defend it to the end.
I may be many things, but one thing I am is confident enough in myself that when I own a mistake that I realize is a mistake, I try to own it as an adult.

I'm too old to dig in and put my fingers in my ears, shouting "NO U" at whoever has an opposing view or outlook.

Life's too short, and people living by that motto is the reason the world is in the state it's in.

You're right, bro. I should have known better, but the dude is a coworker and totally sold me on it.

The excitement gets to all of us and we purchase things we shouldn't.

But next time you'll be less excited because of poor quality i'm sure.
