So my brother bought StarBound for me today and I'm loving it.

It's a awesome game And has many amazing moders that have made even better.

But after spending some time getting Mods from starbounds main site I wen't to check out steemworkshop and found it has even more good mods most of witch I can't get any were ells!

Ive tried steam workshop downloaders but I get this
The game that this item belongs too does not allow downloading of its items...BUMMER!

WTH? thats just wrong!!

I hate steam!
Is there any way I can get around there BS so I can download awesome PLAYER Created content from their site?
http://www.nexusmods.com/starbound/?
Ya I love nexus!

sadly it don't have the mods I want from steamworkshop :(
Where's there's nexus mods, you can probably put steam workshop mods. I own it on Steam so cannot say. I would test with gal civ III but the GOG release sees steam workshop content (might be how I got the DLC across)

There's not much you can do about it. If the modder only wants to support Workshop then that is the only legal place you will find them. Unfortunately Steam wants to monopolise on that as well, and if its not them its Bethsnet, or the upcoming OriginNet (no evidence for that, but they all follow steam). Wouldn't be surprised if months down the line some half baked Galaxy attempt is made by Gog also - remember we all want to be steam.
I hate the effin' Steam Workshop >: (
Don't wanna be cheeky here, but there is a very simple and effective way to download from steam workshop, regardless if you posses the game on steam or not, easy to find on google too:

http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/

Just paste there the url of the mod you want, done

There are only two things to know

- For the site to work correctly you must disable scripts blocker, like ghostery, the site is safe, just the usual google analytic that infest half internet

- The url must be taken after pressing the description button on the mod page, that's the correct base url you need

Of course it's fully free, and you still need the full game to make use of it. To clarify, you can't download the game from that site, only mods from the workshop

If you bought the game you should be able to enjoy to it's fullest, without ridiculous limitation like the workshop. Just don't upload the mod anywhere else if the author don't want to for...reason(s)™

Last thing, before someone ask, yes gabe know about it and don't give a f**k, so the puritans are cordially invited to not scream the 6 letter word, in untrue and frankly, no one care

However, the problem is that you can't download Starbound mods this way.

Sad if true, but at least it's working for other games and it was worth mentioning

For me it doesn't seem to work on all games though for example the mods in http://steamcommunity.com/app/244160/workshop/ says "The game that this item belongs too does not allow downloading of its items...BUMMER!" when ran through the steamworkshopdownloader

Yes, it's really sad. Gabe just hates non Steam users. :-(
Ask the modders of the mods you want to upload them on Nexus as well

And write to the devs/studio that, having bought the game, you feel like your version is made inferior by them disallowing access to these mods and that you only want to support GOG. Maybe they can start to allow downloading the mods using unofficial methods.
