Flying just past a star destroyer is worth 40 dollar even if that comes with a mandatory online connection, a EA account, and DRM !

Change my Mind

oh and flying with a xbox one controller takes a lot of confidence !!

Rogue Squadron II is still the best if you want to fly in the classic films.
It certainly looks flashy.

I do like what they've done with it but it's got a long way to topple TIE Fighter and FreeSpace2 as my space combat sims of choice!

The sense of scale would have impressed me more if I hadn't played the previous titles like TIE Fighter, XvT, X-Wing Alliance and FreeSpace 2 already.

It certainly doesn't seem to have the depth of either of those games so far, but I haven't seen much of the story mode.

Some of the campaign mods for FreeSpace 2 are simply breathtaking, without even considering they are free and done by fans and not a giant money soaked company!

Just wait a bit, it’s coming here soon. Yep, it’s only an EA sign in, so not drm, you just need to use galaxy.

Well, i did enjoy the ending written by ..... forgot the writers name but with the last remaining empire admiral Thrawn, of course the original trilogy is beyond rating with little ol me watching that movie constantly throughout my childhood years.. not on a daily basis, mind you

Well lets see, the thrill of besieging a capital with your x wing is done quite nicely, almost crashed into one .. or two or three... the dogfights are still beyond my capacity! thumbs are to large to wield a stick .. lets leave it at that

That reminds me I should check the status of that Babylon 5 mod for Freespace 2. I recall when I tried it like a decade ago, it was quite breathtaking.

Also the other Babylon 5 project "I've Found Her!" or whatever it was called felt very tasty, but I don't recall if it used the Freespace 2 engine or what...

EDIT: Oh, apparently the final version was released already back in 2008 :D And I am sure I've discussed this before on this forum as well. Not sure what that "Zathras" is, a continuing project for the same?

Why would I try to change your mind? If you like it, you play it. I might pick it up, but I am definitely not going to pay that much with the backlog of games I already have.

I get it. I do think the game looks amazing. Have fun with it!!!

*BLAM!* Cease your heresy! Clearly the Spess Mahreens are the best!
I'll definitely play it someday just for the Star Wars vibes and visuals, but I'll wait until it's $20 or less just because I have zero interest in multiplayer.

Jedi Fallen Order was very good, EA doing some stuff right.

Personally I think that the classic X-Wing game was better in capturing the feeling of the movies. Its just me though!

Let me share a true hot-take with you. I like X-Wing as much as TIE-Fighter :o!

Now that I've said the unsayable, I await my punishment.

Since you mentioned Freespace 2 in a Star Wars thread, I have something for you.

Click me for a nice Star Wars-y suprise!

I think you've already played Blue Planet. The story is so much better than any story game I've played sans Star Control 2 but thats a discussion for another time.
Origin is too much DRM for me.

Hard Pass.
