by the time coon died of lung cancer roddenberry realised that coon's contributions were extremely popular and he tried to claim them as his own
and he nearly succeeded
thankfully shatner justman and others would have none of that

Gene was awesome, but there are too many people who view him as a saint with all these great ideas.
Nope. He did have SOME good ideas, but MANY terrible ones.

DS9 and TNG are tied for my favorite Treks. DS9 has the edge in pure story telling though, and Gene definitely had NO input into that. No offense of course. He was.. well.. dead before the show aired and dying even when TNG was starting up.

I am definitely not optimistic at all. Im a die-hard Trek fan and I love every one of the series (we don't talk about Enterprise or the last few movies). Let's see how this plays out and how many fans become shills.

I just hope it's not like that Ameri-trash I'm gonna buy my own enterprise with blackjack and hookers 'Enterprise'.
About the only thing it got right was it's recognition of the need to have at least one early middle aged female crew member with big tits to keep their target group of slavering barely pubescent morons from jumping ship to something more interesting... like the news.
