I saw that the star deals never give you a game you already own, but presume thats just whats already in my GOG library, I also have steam "linked" to gog which transfers a few DRM copies of games into GOG, do I presume from this that when I redeem a star it also wont double up a game from Steam?

If you have a game redeemed on GOG from connect, then it should not be picked in the selection. It does not however know about other games you may have on steam, or ones not redeemed via connect. I.e. it only knows about what is on your GOG account.

To add to what nightcrawler said, if you do get a dupe, open up a support ticket and they should be able to deal with it.

At least they were last time they did one of these.

Hope this helps
