Anyone actually using this? Supposedly you contribute your computer/gfx power to generate some protein folding algorithm which sends the results to them.

I tried running the program whilst playing alongside Deus Ex: MK with a Geforce 1060 at medium. It halves the framerate. Low seems fine.
They should tell people to turn off their damn PCs when they sleep and donate the money they save off the electric bill to a research facility to pay for cloud computing.
low rated
ok i downloaded, installed, made account "ciomalau" with passkey and started folding but my CPU is below 50% right now. as for graphic card, it shows 0% usage. can it damage my computer? because when i finished borderlands 1 it said that a crazy scientist woman, she burned several computers to decipher some text about the Vault. and i know for sure that neverwinter nights 2 destroyed my old graphic card a geforce 9800

Is it true that Deus Ex: MD has single player microtransactions? o.O
Yes... unfortunately. You see that shop option right off the main menu while playing single player. It's a big thorn in my efforts of trying to enjoy the game.

I was watching a Gameranx review that left me interested. Then I started reading comments and saw the pink elephant that the arsehole had neglected to mention. o.O

So what's a microtransaction going for these days?

From what I understand, the situation is actually even worse; those microtransactions are consumable and only work for one playthrough. If you want to do another playthrough with the things you get from microtransactions, you need to pay for them *again*.
i used to run it in the ps3 , they closed the program sadly

I've used folding for years. Donating leftover cycles, generally my computer's on all the time anyways. Although recently I stopped after donating... quite a bit of time.

How much it's helped I couldn't say, I only have some fancy papers I can print out clarifying I've donated XXX cycles.

As for using the GPU, I never could get the GPU options to work, even on my gaming rig WITH a good GPU on it. So... *shrugs*

Set to low/idle when you're using the computer. I think you can even set a schedule for when the application is running. Low runs at 25%, medium at 50% and full at 100%. (The percentages is closer to how many of your cores are used rather than how much processing they are throttled) The process is always set at lowest priority, so if you aren't doing anything too intensive you won't notice it working. While games and heavy processing will likely take a hit.

Nice way to kill a potentially great game, eh? : (

If they put microtransactions in the 3rd game, I'm boycotting it. I bought MK without knowing about the microtransactions. While the game is good, I'm disappointed that the fact that it seems to have only 1 city hub anyways. You do visit a few places but there's only one hub with multiple quests / sidequests and vendors unlike the original Deus Ex and HR.

Oh thanks for the info. I thought it was a new project. Think I'll let it run on medium when I'm away from the keyboard. Full seems taxing on the graphics card, it's new and I'll hate for it to be damaged.

I'd say leave it at low. As for if the GPU is even being used depends on if the folding client recognizes and can send code to the GPU for it to run. Some might be AMD or NVidia specific for the GPU programming. If you go to the control panel and look up it will have a process for the CPU and a process for the GPU (if it works) and the GPU will be doing the bulk of the work (probably).
i wouldn't use that, thats the way to support pentagon and cia covert, unmoral and illegal cyberwarfare
