Wonder if this'll be an updated version of the original story (although how much can you improve on in an already stellar plot, lol).

Really excited on the prospects in terms of shooter mechanics, side quests, and the extent of the monsters we could encounter in terms of the sameness they're looking to preserve. Good to see GSC back after a decade of near static silence. :)

Sachys: thats not entirely true - the first game was in development before adding influence from both roadside picnic and tarkovsky's film interpretation (Stalker).
That doesn't change anything and The movie is in its turn loosely based on the Strugatzkys brothers' novel anyway.
I don't get your point.

Sachys: Unfortunately theyre using unreal engine though (and not xray), so im dubious as to what can be done regarding a life (and everything else) this time around.
So you should know that you can code whatever you want in Unreal Engine and let's forget for a moment the bugfest XRay was on release and still is.
