So I recently got the spore collection but when I try to register the game I just get a failed to connect error. Is it because I installed it via the gog galaxy client? Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently, it is known that the menu doesn't work. The CD keys have to be registered outside of the game.

I tried doing it through origin but it just gave me an error. And the link in the other topic isn't working, it just takes me to the home page for gog support.

I tried that however I'm still getting an error saying that it can't connect to the spore servers. There's nothing wrong with my internet connection nor antivirus and its running with administrator privileges. I appreciate the help though.

I found this in a Steam Forum:

Found solution. It wants you to have an EA account, but an EA account isn't a Spore account. So I'm logged into my steam account to run it, reset the password to my EA account ina web browser, adn then from within the game use the screen that says "create new EA account" that really should say "create new SPORE account" and hti the right arrow, and that made me yet another account so now I can play.

Way to see if you have a Spore account in addition to your EA account is to go to www.spore.com/view/myspore/USERNAME (for whatever your username is).
"

Malius: I've run into that problem too. I even tried adding it and installing it through origin since you can add the game there but I still get a server connection error.
I managed to sneak behind the server connection error today by fastly hitting the Login button and got to the "create new EA account" screen. When I hit the arrow though an "unknown error" accured....

According to the Spore wiki:

Corrupted Internet Connection

Very rarely your game's internet connection will be corrupted. This glitch is game-wrecking in most cases and can only be fixed by reinstalling with fixed code.

Also, what happened to me, I kept getting crashes/freezes whenever I play.

For me it happened sometimes while playing spore stages.I can't find a fix.

Once, it happened every time I load a save game. This forced me to reinstall everything and lose all my games. I call it the big extinction. Now it crashes every ten minutes or so, only in space stage, and it seems to be getting better,

Actually, to fix this "Big Extinction", before you un-install spore, you can copy all of your Saves to a new folder, and put all the files from the "My Spore Creations" folder into a new folder, THEN un-install spore. Then when you Re-install spore, put all of the files back into the new folders.(The "My Spore Creations" file won't appear until you actually make a creation, so don't freak out because it's not there) ~TheX1
