RedRagan: I got curious, what got censored in the SNK games? What they removed from AoF2 and BS2?
avatar
Spectrum_Legacy: In art of fighting 2, they removed the Japanese rising sun flag in one of stages. Game still has rollback, so you can revert to the old version prior to censorship.

Baseball stars 2 has national flags of teams removed (dunno if all or not) and any notion of Taiwan is gone. Rollback is disabled, so one has to restore it manually.

That's from top of my head, happened like ~9 months ago, so there might be more details that got changed.
Oh man that's bad, especially how they treat Taiwan like that.
Anyone knows if the SNK 40th collection here has the 11 DLC added games on consoles? At least from what I heard of as I don't own any version of this collection.

RedRagan: My question is can I use 3rd party fighting arcade joystick for those fighting games?

It's not that bad tho. A lot of Saudi princes born from the sultan's 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th wife and not eligible for throne so they're bored af and have too much money to spend. Many of them became nerds and actually doing something nice like saving gaming franchises by buying them and it's a good thing fbecause they're western educated and like popular media as well. Some of them even funded an anime movie about a Saudi hero with a Japanese studio.

One of the most memorable was when this Saudi guy keep sending rare games to CGR (Classic Game Room) youtube channel.

MegisED: I'm sure many of them are very nice and decent people, but that's not what Jamal Khashoggi would describe this one as.
So you're judging a whole country by action of one man. It's like judging USA for the action of one president.

Yea, I wish it would be unlawful to do hackjobs like this on classic games, movies, music, any media really. I was surprised that gog let it fly, maybe they don't even know or care. However, "preserving gaming history" ethos goes right out of the window when stuff like this happens. If those previous owners decided to have censored version in China only, it would be lesser evil than force it on global scale.

dtgreene: Apparently, the 40th Anniversary Collection includes Crystalis, which is very unlike the other games in the collection; it's more like the Ys games, to be honest. (Although there's no bump combat; there is, however, the ability to charge up for a ranged attack. There's also hard level requirements for boss fights; if your level isn't high enough, the boss is impossible, as your attacks fail to do damage.)

(Are there any other SNK games like that, or that don't fit into the usual genres? Also, are both NES and GBC Crystalis included, or just one?)
Athena is another that is different, featuring side-scrolling melee combat and some minor platforming. One of my favorite NES games was back.

No, I'm judging him by his actions, and he's the one who owns the company that bought a massive share of SNK.
[EDIT:] In case it wasn't clear, I'm talking about the crown prince, the one that they've fittingly started calling Mohammed Bone Saw.

[EDIT:] And in case you're still confused, here's a post with a few related articles describing the situation, somewhat:

That's a very short forum and also filled with prejudiced comments. Chopped to pieces? Seriously?

At least Arab Prince want money and video games, unlike that country who willing to censor a whole country because they're salty that it went independence.

Also free Hong Kong.
I reserve the right to not spend money on a brand, depending on who directly stands to make money off it.
But, at any rate, I have to call it, here, if we keep arguing we'll both get our posts nuked.

Why do they bother? They're NEVER going to convince people that Taiwan is a province of China, no citizens of Europe, North America or most places believe it. It's as absurd as the Middle East trying to say Israel isn't a country...my map and globe say otherwise for both countries. China, or rather the CCP, just looks absurd doing this.
As far as for the SNK ownership now I thought MBS, Mohammed Bin Salman or "More Bone Saws" was the one who bought it not any other Saudi Prince. Yes I had to get that last dig in because I think he's a piece of human trash given his behavior.
Regarding censorship WHY is GOG displaying the censored graphic of Athena for the box art cover they chose? On the Switch cover she's wearing a bikini but the idiots at Sony insisted she be covered up when it got released on the PS4.
Me? I bought the Switch version almost at launch even though I didn't own one at the time. Already own Crystalis but for Ikari Warriors and other games it made me happy.
I might even buy the GOG version if the games themselves are fit to run on my MiSTeR FPGA. Should I buy it? Asking this for anyone here who owns it.

Yes, it does. Those games were only added as (free) DLC on the Switch. The PS4 and Xbox One versions had the games on the disc from the outset (although the Xbox One version had one more, I believe: Baseball Stars).
