I was going to put this in the forum specifically for that but... it appears someone else has already posted the exact same question days ago with no response. (I am sorry.. but for the game specific forums that don't get much traffic we do have an incentive to post here instead of there. If a moderator feels this should be moved then by all means move it to said forum. Again, sorry for posting here but if I wanted to wait days to find an answer I'd send some snail mail somewhere.)

This game for some reason is tickling my fantasy to purchase and give a go... BUT.. ONLY.. IF IT CAN BE PLAYED WITH A CONTROLLER.

I read on the the forums here and at Steam that it's apparently difficult to get a controller to work in those LoK games.

SOoooooo....

does anyonehere know how to or have been able to make an X-Box 360 Controller for Windows (or maybe just a Logitech controller) work with the first game or two of the series? It seems like it should be a no brainer as if I understand correctly it's a port from Playstation... so why it won't support a controller is beyond me. Pretty sure it had to support one for the playstation.

Thanks for any info.

BitDefender didn't like it, but BitDefender doesn't like alot of injectors. I did another run through of the game, (and Blood Omen), with that program last year, and I have yet to have any online account and/or card numbers compromised. The program isn't ideal. It works by translating and transferring the keyboard commands to your gamepad, (a LogiTech F310 in my case, but I can test my 360 pad if you want), which means everything is still digital, but it's entirely manageable if you need to play with a controller. Just be sure to make extensive use of 'walk' when close to ledges.

Oh.. THANK YOU. LOL, I didn't think I was going to get any replies.

Thank you very, very much for the info.

This is so bizarre.... a game that was created for use with a controller doesn't want to work with a controller...

Or am I misrembering this? Wasn't the LoK series first released on Playstation (or some other console) or is my memory messed up again?
Blood Omen & Soul Reaver was for PS. The rest was for PS 2. PC version usually follow after a month of release
I personally found it a pain in the neck to sort, ended up just using the keyboard. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Anyway, be aware that the game has a habit of breaking the audio. Hope you get a bit of success with it (and the controller).

Not a problem. Legacy of Kain is one of my absolute favorite series, inspite of their gameplay after Soul Reaver >.>

It's not that bizarre. All of the Legacy of Kain PC ports have gamepad support, but they were made for PC gamepads of the time period they were released in. Soul Reaver is the one that has the worst issues with modern pads to the point where it's unplayable with them, (as far as I'm aware), without something like Peixoto emulating the keyboard.

Plug in a controller with an analog stick, that SR actually recognizes, and Raziel will constantly run in a circle. The other games worst problems are pretty much just not recognizing all of the buttons on a given pad, (typically XInput pads), though Defiance also has some really annoying deadzone issues.

Blood Omen - PlayStation, PC.

Soul Reaver - PlayStation, DreamCast, PC.

Soul Reaver 2 - PlayStation 2, PC.

Blood Omen 2 - PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC.

Defiance - PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC.
I cannot play it with my Logitech Rumblepad 2. The game character is just rotating all the time.
Well, the game is perfectly playable on a keyboard so I luckily didn't have to deal with this issue.
Have you tried the Xbox One controller?
I've used JoyToKey for other games for my Gamecube controller. Has worked fine so far.
As long as the pc can recognize the controller, you can map buttons to keys.

Back when these games were made, (analog) gamepads were not really a thing or at least widespread on PC. The PC versions were designed to be played with mouse + keyboard.

If I recall correctly, even the Playstation version of Soul Reaver didn't support the analog thumbsticks on the Playstation gamepad (or then remember it wrong). The first generation of Playstations didn't have analog controls.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Controller

The analog Dualshock gamepad was launched in America in 1998 or so and the game came out in 1999, so I think the Playstation version of Soul Reaver was still designed for the older non-analog Playstation gamepad.

OR, then I remember it all wrong, I don't have means to verify that now...
