nightcraw1er.488: So it feels like there is something missing from the current sale. There have been a couple of ok releases, nothing to write home about. The sales are pretty mediocre. The freebies are essentially some demos and game most will have.
So where is the big thing? No leading sales like buy x get x, secret games or anything. No big sales. And most of all no real big releases, ok prey is pretty good. What happened to C&C remastered, prime opportunity to get it here? I know we got supreme commander, but that feels a bit like “well we couldn’t get the main event, how close is this?”. Noting that c&c is third on most voted for ever (and age of empires, mythology are also there).
Oh, and I just noted supreme commander 2 also released with a dlc, really need to sort out you release threads, I didn’t even notice this earlier!
tfishell: they're big to
me (since I look at the wishlist), so I guess that's somewhat relative - Metro Exo (after we were told "no plans for GOG"), Prey, Life is Strange, Supreme Commander 1-2, Shivers 2, Outpost 2, and stuff over the past few months - Retroism releases, Walking Dead back, other Bethesda and Square Enix releases, Ziggurat re-releases, etc.
some of us might also be desensitized too from previous "big" releases over the years
Yes, I don’t consider metro a release at all. Prey might be ok, I brought it but haven’t got round to it yet. That’s really it though. Life is strange, again I brought the first one, as it was a couple of quid, never heard of it, so will try it out, but only brought it as there was nothing else interesting.
An example of the “sales” is mortal kombat 4, 8% off! Wow, the excitement.

Karterii1993: EA and Microsoft are too scared of GOG since people can easily put these games up on pirate sites, and because there's lots of pirates out there. You won't see their games on here for a while longer, or ever.
In regards to C&C though, I think most GOG users are fine with just playing the original, and that's been freeware for a while.
EDIT: Just want to add, I am pretty happy with what we got. I feel like GOG is getting bigger and bigger, which is a good thing and quite unexpected from my point of view. Any progress is good progress, and getting Arkane's games and the new Deus Ex games here is an amazing step forward. Small for people who don't get about DRM, but big for people who do.
Yes, even though that stance is so often shown as flawed. C&C remaster was up on certain sites on the day of release. Al they have done is lose a potential chunk of customers. But it won’t change.
TheMonkofDestiny: I've been waiting for a gir-- I mean... for the Arkham and last LEGO Batman game(s). It'd be nice to see them show up during this sale. Nice, but probably not likely to happen.
I never really cared too highly for "spend x amount of money, get "bonus" games" style sale gimmicks personally, so I don't miss their absence currently.
I do wish some deals were a little better than they are, in part because I'm cheap but also at this point in time broke enough that of the ~$5 and change I have/had that isn't facilitating my survival, I spent a portion of to give a game to someone else and have bought nothing for myself thus far. I may spend the rest on something within the window of peanuts I have to throw at it on my wishlist a day or two before the sale ends or I may just leave it tucked away for some godforsaken reason or another.
Overall I don't feel like something is missing (I mean, aside from the Batman games obviously) but at the same time I do feel like maybe GOG had a much grander rollout for this sale in the pipes that got waylaid when everything screeched to a halt in the Flintstones foot-powered car that is the world. Then again, maybe it's exactly as the GOG Cabal intended and they're currently all in a sinister remote Zoom conference plotting out a series of seemingly low energy events until they can finally drop Cyberpunk into the wild.
True, it might just have been doused somewhat by current events, hadn’t taken that into consideration.
