By now, I have a nice collection of freebies from GOG.

Definitely a much appreciated gesture, regardless of all the beef I have with other things being done.

Thank you Frictional Games for letting GOG give away your game for free.

Mine is only speculation, but I doubt the devs of free games just give them away like that. They probably strike a deal with GOG, "sum X for game Y to be free in a 48h span". GOG can afford to give away stuff to atract attention and it will be beneficial for them in the long run, but I think Frictional would take a consinderable hit if they did so.
