Incase you didn't know Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a new batch of DLC costumes for the Mii Fighters. And one of them is the Fallout mascot Vault Boy:

Like to me this feels like the equivilant of Gordon Freeman from Half-Life being in Smash, or any character made by Blizzard Entertainment like the Lich King or Diablo. Or even JC Denton from Deus Ex.

Fallout to me is such a landmark PC title at the start that seeing it now in a Nintendo game just feels strange.

To many people, the series started with FO3 when they played it on their Xbox or Playstation. :S
Yeah it's... strange
Kind of strange, but it's not that much of a surprise IMO as Fallout has become increasingly mainstream since the release of 3 and 4. When I bought a copy of 4 from Walmart the old lady at the check-stand even remarked (In old lady voice) "Oh, I have this one, but I still need to finish it!" We've come a long way (in popularity) since Fallout 2.

I cannot stand the new Smash game at all and the DLC characters have been very bad if you ask me (for starters, I know it's really old news but why Cloud? And we really do not need another Fire Emblem character but it's just to advertise the new game, right?). And, indeed, the Pip Boy isn't even really a character but Nintendo strives off of meme magic exclusively these days. I guess it's just a cute little costume but Nintendo and Fallout is not really a match made in heaven and indeed it is a PC franchise (even now) to me.
Saw Vault Boy on a poster at the doctors the other day, that was strange!
Well, smash has always been weird, but in a very wonderful way.

I mean, Fallout 3 kinda feels disconnected from Fallout 1/2, even if it is still a decent game. By the time you hit, it's not even Fallout anymore, just another open world game with lick of 'da wurld ended fellas' paint.

Absolutely, classic Fallout and Bethesda Fallout are two separate series really, better to treat the latter as a reboot of sorts really.

Since the Bethesda series has been all over consoles for its entire duration I don't find this all that weird to be honest. I don't remember the Vault Boy mascot being such a big thing pre-Bethesda either.

He wasn't he was just in the games. His promotion to 'poster boy' kinda enhances the disconnect between Fallout 1/2 and Bethseda-Era.

Thankfully, us disenchanted lot can retreat to Wasteland 2/3
Ever since the release of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, crossovers have been progressively surprising me less and less. Now, I would be surprised if a big game didn't have crossovers.
