So yeah I am replaying Mass Effect Trilogy again this time on the PC.

Your all aware that Mass Effect 1 PC has texture issues abound. So I asked my brother to fix it and he did and the textures got better, but than I see Garrus' face and its still un-textured?

Now before you ask yes I did searched the internet and found that I have to re-write numbers on the BIOEngine notepad.

"TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Diff=(MinLODSize=32,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=0)
TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Norm=(MinLODSize=32,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=0)
TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Spec=(MinLODSize=32,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0)

to

TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Diff=(MinLODSize=512,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=0)
TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Norm=(MinLODSize=512,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=0)
TEXTUREGROUP_Character_Spec=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=256,LODBias=0)

I did it and and saved and than reloded my save file right before I met the council and Garrus' face is still low res?

And don't tell me to install that HD texture mod no thanks I rather fix the textures already given.

So what did I do wrong?

I'm not. I've been playing different versions of the game on completely different machines over the years and not once have I seen any issues with Garrus' face.

Edit: Okay, just looked at some pics, I guess it just never struck me as "wrong" compared to the other characters' textures. :P

Yeah he looks like this still

And just now I read in another website that I had to change the "MaxLODSize=512" to 4096 in the Nexus website and his face is still low res.

Just read up on it, it's not a code/settings problem. All these tricks with the ini files just keep his texture as "sharp" as it actually is no matter the distance (which is still comparably blurry, obviously). There is no "hidden" higher res texture to be unlocked, though. If you want it sharper than it is in close-ups already you will need to get a higher res version of the texture via a mod first.

But that was Nexus. I have seen other examples not concerning the mod:

You may wanna read the first comment beneath that post. Going by the comments further below it seems to depend on the game's version you have whether that fix will really do anything / whether there is a higher version of the texture already in the game files (and I presume in that case you should have a sharp version of the face by default).

But the thing is it still looks the same? Nothing was really fixed at all.

Unless I have to completely restart the game? As in make a new game?

I'm sure you don't have to. Which version are you playing anyway? As the comments on Reddit said, the Steam version for example seems to include a higher resolution texture but not necessarily all retail versions.

Sorry, correction: "the 1.02 patch did fix it on the retail disc copies. the steam version does not have this patch."
There actually seems to be tons of confusion over which version has the fixed texture, though. Anyway, my guess is that if your version didn't have hi-res textures for his face in the first place they are probably just not there and you have to get them from an unofficial source.

There are many bad hd texture mods out there, but the one for ME (MEUITM) is really good + it would instantly solve your problem (contrary to hd textures in ME2, where you must use texmod, which is a pain in the ass...)

Well I did mention I am playing Mass Effect "Trilogy" on PC so logic would dictate that I am playing them on EA Origin, because Steam does not have Mass Effect 3.

Are the textures on the PC version of ME2 already, "Fine?" as in sevicible. And using such a mod is only for people who wants to just make look even more better?

As far as I remember the textures in ME2 are fine already and the little improvement you can get isn't worth the hassle with texmod . ME1 however has really low res textures and the texture replacement is very easy.
