micktiegs_8: gogrepo sounds like a fantastic tool for those who hack others' accounts with plenty of games.

It also seems that hypocrisy is in the air when people complain about Galaxy being in 'alpha/beta' states still. I didn't realise those other clients popped up overnight with full, bug free functionality brimming with features.

Unread.
Perhaps your next thought is to bring back DRM :)

I agree with you that users shouldn't be too hard on GOG Galaxy. It's headed in the right direction and on its way to great things, and the fact that they don't force it on users like Steam does with their client is fantastic. There's no need to rush... do it right and keep the bug count down etc.

There's nothing stopping "people who hack others' accounts" from doing the same with GOG Galaxy, the official GOG downloader app, or their website itself. Sure, they can be used for malicious purpose, but the whole point of GOG is to acknowledge that legitimate users outweigh, and people are willing to pay for content when the price is right and customers are respected and their purchased content owned, not rented.

GOG has gotten a lot of my money.. I like to support them and feel good about truly owning what I've purchased (like in the Good Old Games days :) )

P1na: Personally, I don't have enough space on my HD to store my whole collection. So it's not a feature useful to me, but hey, the more options given to us the better.
I ended up getting a 3TB external drive to store my collection --they've come down to a reasonable price (less than $100 US) and while slow over USB for storage, it's perfect to download the games and the 'extra' content too. I just looked and saw a 5TB drive for $130 US, what a bargain! I remember in the late 80's, early 90's when you could expect to pay thousands for large storage devices.

If you can afford it, it's worth getting one these days to keep your games backed up.

Lies! Kill it! XD

I wasn't being too serious though, about gogrepo. It's in my nature to poke the bear with a pointy stick and see what happens. No real ill will intended.

If the bear's not moving, juices oozing from it's orifices, flies are buzzing about and other animals gnawing at it, it might be safe to poke it with a pointy stick... just don't pop it!

I have over 10TB of hard disk capacity, at my parent's. There's no way I'll bring it all with me on my backpack, so when I consider the available space I have, I just count my laptop and the small external drive. And I'm not wasting that space saving all GOG.

Ah, keeping it all in the 'cloud'. :)

That's the main reason I started using online shops, after all.

Gotta disagree with you there. I started to use online shops as the cd version had nothing but steam client on it. No manual or anything, so it was pointless buying them just to take up space. This in no ways makes me suddenly start thinking I can trust. Companies to look after my stuff. Totally agree with JDelekto, hdds are so cheap now. And if your on the move take a usb drive, you can get huge one of 128gb which fit on your key ring.

Oh, and I now have the doctor pepper theme going through my head, thanks op!

You're disagreeing that's the main reason *he* started using online shops?

I mentioned the "cloud" because it's where I keep books and pictures important to me when I have to travel. Thanks for the nods. Seriously though, people can get free space on the cloud (I might have dropped a box) although you can get free storage elsewhere. Watching video on your phone is kind of cramped, but listening to music, you have tin this *a-cloud in the sky to which your player is pointing. Really cool from a technology standpoint.

That was my first reaction as well. Seems he knows me better than I do.

I have a 3TB hard disk at home with backups of all my games. I have a small 1TB one I carry while traveling where not only the 3TB don't fit, but I also want to carry something else. Wanting to be able to play games I own anywhere without having to carry my library around during my nomadic lifestyle is indeed why I started using these platforms, and I would do so for books or TV series as well if I could. You can disagree as much as you want, but cloud availability is actually a pretty useful thing to me; which doesn't mean I don't keep an extra backup copy somewhere safe anyway. This is also why I'm utterly against (post purchase) region locking and would stop using any service that implements it.

Ah, apologies then, you have an offline backup.
