did a bit of juggling with the package deal and got Internet150 from Shaw.

Oh.My.God.

The speed. I just DLed Titan Quest - a 5.6 GB file, which took me hours on the old plan. Less than 2 minutes on this new one.

And the beauty is it's not costing me any more than what we were paying before. Damn. I likes me new internet package.

I like Shaw, people here bitch about them all the time, but for me shaw has been pretty awesome.
Mr Rick Shaw was on a shore thing when he rode a rickshaw along the sea shore while using his Shaw internet

They've been great to us, although I know some people who have had very bad experiences with them.

Was this from GOG? Using the browser, or Galaxy?

I just recall many Americans (from US) complaining that GOG speeds are slow, or at least throttled. Some complain that they get very slow download speeds, some more like they don't get as high speeds as on e.g. Steam. The common thing for those complaints usually seem to be that they are either from US, or China.

I usually get the normal 10Mbit/s that my cable modem allows, using browser downloads. So I wouldn't know for sure what is the highest speed I could get from GOG, if my local internet speed was very high.

I'm still coping with this 10Mbit/s line (and not upgrade it to the 100Mbit/s one or is it even more nowadays) because this is basically "free" for me, ie. included by default to the monthly housing costs. I just don't feel like spending extra monthly for my internet connection since I am doing fine with this moderate speed. Plus, I understood from somewhere that in order to really take advantage of the higher speed, I'd have to disable NAT on my wifi router and change it to bridged mode, which in turn would mean that:

- I get only five IP addresses, so I could have only five devices connected to the internet at the same time.
- I don't get the extra security that NAT provides.

Still, it is kinda funny that nowadays I get considerably faster speeds if I use my 4G mobile phone for the internet connection...

150Mbps = 9000Mbit per minute = 1.125GB/minute
Might have been more than 2 minutes ;)

Omw. Considering my speed, I'll be there sometime next year.

Internet speeds are weird. Depending on consumer protections in your area, they may or may not have to provide the speeds they promised (150 Mbps), but nothing prevents them from overdelivering, especially for a new customer.

I'm in Russia, I have 5 MB == 40 Mb per sec, no monthly limit, and paid $70 for two years.

It was not. I was curious how fast it would be so I timed it. DLed started when the clock showed 6:27. Finished when the clock showed 6:28.
