Because Valve just completely fucked up their Steam Client and called it a masterpiece.
I have no problem with either as they are not allowed on my pc:)

Made it ugly as hell, slow as hell, and removed useful functionality in favor of stuff nobody ever asked for.

Good thing I stopped purchasing on steam for 2 years now..Never gonna look back.If it's on gog fine if not they can get something else from me.
but to answer your question gog galaxy 2.0 seems fine for now at least its simple and clean. It is kind of slow but thats how it was before 2.0.There are still missing features such as downloading any extras(Manuals, art book , soundtracks etc.) but they said they will add that in the upcoming updates.

*Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong*

It's still in Beta for a reason from what I can tell.

It looks good, but last I checked Galaxy 2.0 doesn't yet support downloading offline installers, and the option to disable it on startup is broken - so it's currently disabled in the OS startup settings on my system.

Those are the only important things I noticed.

Thats weird. Was user-friendly client not the thing that made Steam the way it is popularity wise (...besides drowning in exclusive deals for PC)? Kind of its staple?

I'm guessing they made it more phone/tablet friendly like MS did with the first version of Win10.
It looks so awful, it's so big and chunky and takes up an asburd amount of screen space. It feels like it was designed for console.

Or tablets....and it likely was, as that is where the new money is at & Gabe wants that money.

Are you talking about the library update or? What functionality was removed?

Edit; probably the library I guess since I see it was officially released today for people not on the beta client

The only issue I have with it so far is that I can't seem to remove the 'what's new?' shelf at the top of the library which shows new updates for games I have.

Both Galaxy and Steam are fine. Easy enough to use, unless you're totally dim.
The game cards look blurry now for some reason. Good update, didn't know I wanted to have problems looking at the steam library.

Galaxy 2.0 on the other hand, after installing it some month ago, was the first time I got a blue screen on my new PC.

Things are getting better all around.
It's even more sluggish on my computer than 1.2 and it's missing some features you'd expect and which exist in 1.2 (e.g. forum integration, ''go to store page'' button, user-friendly DLC management). And it ditches the clean and distinctive white-and-purple color scheme for a more Steam-like dark-blue, with no option to switch back. But it is nice having cross-platform achievements and being able to launch everything from one place.
