i do not work for gamesessions, also what you need to do is register at gamesessions.com and download sniper elite v3 giveaway, then you install and play it for longer than 5 minutes a notification should show up o nscreen and its activated forever on your account. THIS COPY DOES NOT HAVE MULTIPLAYER but you can purchase a steam key of the game which is discounted at 80% and the giveaway finishes on jan 2nd
Should have read the entire article; it appears only purchased games use Steam; trials, rentals, etc. use a proprietary always online DRM. I'm going to give it a shot and see what it actually is, e.g. a client, just a background Internet connection, etc. I'll report back here once I have this figured out.

So it took some reading to figure out what kind of DRM is being used here, but apparently the game installs a vanilla version of Steam and runs the game through that. Just so everyone is clear. Thank you to OP for bringing this giveaway to our attention just the same.

So here is the promised update.

The game is locked to a proprietary client, which requires an Internet connection to function. You also need to log into your GameSessions account before you launch a game.

Upon launching the game, a brief advertisement for the company that sponsored the giveaway is shown. Then the game launches normally. The game appears fully functional (save for not having multiplayer, which is mentioned beforehand), and does not require either a Steam account or the Steam client. After five minutes of play a pop-up appears informing me that I now own the game on GameSessions, as promised.

Inside the game there is GameSessions branding, so this is clearly a build meant exclusively for GameSessions. In the game overaly, there is another advertisement for the company that sponsored the giveaway. I do wonder with the always online connectivity, if there will be rotating ads each time you load the game/open the overlay, making this technically adware. I read the EULA in its entirety and did not see any reference to in-game advertising, but it's a long document and I could have missed something.

The EULA does say they can cancel the service at any time, but that's standard boilerplate for these types of always online services. The EULA also says you are not eligible for refund, outside of you purchasing a game and then choosing to decline the Steam EULA (which they refer to as the "Steam Adoption Process".) This is especially strange given that GameSessions is apparently located in the UK, where you are required by law to offer refunds for 14 days if a digital good has not yet been delivered. Notably I did not see any prompt telling me that I would be losing my right of withdrawal, although that may be down to the fact that I am in Canada.

Once the game was launched, I unplugged my wireless dongle and the game did not stop running. It appears an Internet connection is required to start the launcher, log in,and launch the game, but thereafter you can disconnect your Internet and continue playing. This could vary from game to game, or change over time though.

Anyways, hopefully the above helps some users make a decision on whether this service is right for them or not.
