As in the title, just wondering if it's possible to install both Skyrim (original) and Skyrim Special Edition on the same PC. Why, you ask?

Well, I'm playing a modded Skyrm SE, but have been reading about Enderal and would be interested in checking it out as well. Trouble is, Enderal doesn't work with Skyrim SE. Since the two game versions have different game IDs on Steam, does anyone know for sure if it's possible? Or will there be issues with the save files being dumped into the same folder (and thus overwriting the other game's saves)?

I have two Skyrim's installed but on different drives and different save folders which you may have to set up yourself until it reads it in the correct folder.

Awesome, thanks for the info. How much of a pain is it to set up the different save folders? I had actually planned on installing on different drives.

It's pretty easy actually but see if it does it it's self first when you start a game.If it doesn't you will need to set it up and make sure the game starts using it instead of the other one.Save the game first time under a distinctive name that you can then move to other folder and start from there. The games folders need to be named as the game.

Yeah, been doing some googling on that and it seems like it should be relatively straight forward. Really appreciate the help, Tauto. Cheers. :)

No problem and even if it saves in only one folder that shouldn't really be a problem as it will always ask to save (overwrite) files so in other words use a plan for saving from the different games and you will have no problems. You could call them Game 1 and Game 2.

Hey, just thought I'd give you a heads-up in case you're interested: googling around some more, it looks like each of the Skyrim iterations actually has a separate save folder (Skyrim for the original and Skyrim Special Edition for the updated version), so I may not have to do anything. When I get around to checking it out, I'll let you know if it requires anything unusual.

It's been a long time since I set them up (or play) but I don't remember any problems.
