I'd rather buy them here. I don't want chinese spyware on my laptop.

It's been confirmed by another poster that Arkham City can run without the egs launcher, not sure about the other games yet.

But I get it, you don't want the software on your pc at all. I have a softspot for Epic due to the golden age of Unreal/Unreal Tournament/Unreal Tournament 2004. So I guess I trust Tim Sweeney and the folks at Epic until proven otherwise.

Valve lost a ton of credibility with me when they turned Steam into a casino for children. They never seem to do the right thing until they receive enough bad press.

Worth noting Epic could one day update the client to operate more like Steam, so who knows.

Some games work without the EGS launcher by adding some commands to their shortcut: -EpicPortal and/or -AUTH_LOGIN=unused

Not all, Arkham Origins and Arkham Blackgate are missing. I would buy them all here on GOG immediately.

I gotta say Epic is killing it with these freebies. Now if only they could implement basic features like a shopping cart, tags, better search function, and improve the look of their store it would be a great competitor to Steam.

Does anyone have any "insider info" concerning offline installers and Epic? I'm a sucker for them, and I'd rather download an offline installer instead of zipping the game folder (would that even work without the registry entries?).

Sweet, especially if they are indeed DRM-free. I had an Epic account and launcher already, haven't run it for a couple of months though. This was good enough reason to run it again. I had AA and AC already on Steam, bought for peanuts from some Humble Bundle I think back in the day...

Epic is becoming like EA Origin, in which I also amassed a sizable library from their freebies alone. :) I wonder if EA is still offering more freebies? How about UPlay, I think I got some AAA freebie from them too half a year ago?

The real test to confirm that is to download all the six games, zip them, transfer them to another PC (with no Epic launcher, and never having any of those games installed there) and run them there. If they still work fine, not minding missing registry entries or such, then I consider them DRM-free indeedy.

I am going to test that, just about to download (and install) all the six games on my Windows 7 PC, and then move and try to play them on my Windows 10 PC.

At least one of the free games, For Honor, seems to require linking your Epic account to your Ubisoft account before you can even start installing the game, so I am fairly sure that adding paramaters to the shortcut will not make that game DRM-free.
