mechmouse: The original Soul Edge (first Soul Calibre game) on PS1.

We had collected all but one sword, which needed 3 successful edge master moves to win.
It took me and a mate 4 hours swapping between us both to do that one level.
Sounds like good times, definitely will try that, thanks!

ShadowWulfe: Take No Prisoners?
That could be fun, I played Raven Software's Soldier of Fortune and I liked it. Did you play it hotseat with a friend?

neskromanser: Hello guys. First, let me clarify what I meant in the title. I did not make a mistake, I do mean singleplayer hotseat. What I mean by that is: playing a singleplayer game with a friend, taking turns playing the game or dividing parts of the game between the two players. Let me list two examples:

1) The simple variant: I played and completed Need for Speed Carbon with my friend, we took turns, one of us raced, and finished, then the other player. So, just taking turns.

2) The slightly more profound variant: With my friend, I played and completed Rome Total War. My friend was managing the empire, while I was fighting the tactical battles.

With that clarified, I would like you guys to post suggestions of games, no genre specified, which you think are great to play with a friend.
Pretty much any of the Grand Theft Auto games. This is how my friends and I played Vice City, San Andreas, and even a bit of IV (though the fun we got from this was greatly diminished by then). We mostly just screwed around, though -- one person plays till they die/get arrested/get bored, then they pass the controller. But one could just as easily play through the actual story missions in this way.
A couple I know split up their RPG runs. She does the walking and talking and he does the combat.
I played Abuse with brother. One was moving with keyboard while other was aiming with mouse. It was hard but we finished whole shareware version. :)

That's a good way to play. I played Sacred with my bro, but we were taking turns, both of us liked the game as a whole.

That looks like a fun game, plus my friend really likes run n gun games, we'll give this a shot.

I never did, but from the single player I can tell you the game is badass. Weapons feel like they should and there's a great variety of combat items.
Heroes of Might & Magic is perfect for hotseat multiplayer, esp if the players cooperate against the AI.

I agree. IMO the best is Heroes of Might & Magic 3. ^_^

Definitely seems worth a try.

Yeah, I agree. Ramp up the difficulty and work together to outsmart the AI.
