It frightens me that GoG, a site dedicated to preserving classic games, used GenAI to promote the possibility of more classic games being ported.

Doesn't fill me with confidence that GenAI won't be used in future ports & restorations.
Because using a program in marketing is totally the same as using them to port old games! Wait, no, you're just a fear-mongering half-wit.
What are you on about? Where did that video use GenAI? It's an hour long let's play.

Is it even AI tho? Text and space seem too consistent for it
Even if true, better get used to it. Generative AI is here to stay, no matter what any of us may wish. Be it art, music or soon, probably entire games.
The Dreamlist relies on a garbage fire of a database, so if there's anyone to blame, it'd be them. They've got all kinds of things wrong! Like the screenshots of SimAnt are a hodgepodge of multiple versions even though the PC one would be the relevant ones.

Why does that frighten you?

The Socioethical issues of GenAI (among the general nuisance their proponents tend to be) among the fact that they have no respect for copyright/trademark https://apnews.com/article/chatgpt-newspaper-copyright-lawsuit-openai-microsoft-2d5f52d1a720e0a8fa6910dfd59584a9

Well, to say the least, there's enough issues that it really shouldn't be used for any human facing work.

And in relation to the question I actually asked? Something about preserving classic games and porting them.

Oh, simple. It could discourage publishers and makers from wanting to push GOG over other platforms, because they see that GOG has no scruples.

You mean all the other publishers who now all of them are using GerAI to actually make content?

And again - how does it relate to game preservation and porting?
Even if it's true and they did used genAI. How would they use genAI for porting/restoring games again? You know with the one AI tool which is used to generate text, images and videos?
