Hmm. My take (not that anyone should care): I played some of the GTA games when I was a kid & teenager.

I still haven't thrown molotov cocktails at groups of people, stolen cars and run over the owner, bought a gun and stolen the arms store holding the clerk at gunpoint, fucked whores, shot them to get the money back, then run over pedestrians, fleed from cops, blown up cars, stolen a bazooka, blown up more cars, stolen a tank, and blown up even more stuff with it.

I still also haven't become a murderer-for-hire despite playing the Hitman series and enjoying it thoroughly..

I think we're fine.

GTA is pretty fucking sick, and potentially a lot of fun.

I'm not sure I'd enjoy a rape game, but given that I've enjoyed other sick games, I don't think it'd be right for me to tell that others can't enjoy such a game.

Mhmm... +1

It's curious, the more a violent games come out, the more docile the population becomes instead.

I think it's because we have an outlet. Maybe not the best outlet, but better to kill 50 NPC's in a game, than do it for real.

We are quite good at separating out reality and fiction, as well as being able to substitute one form of violence to tide over instinct.

This is my point. Games with murder, rape, even pedophilia can serve as outlets for frustrated people. I would FARRR prefer someone spent all day playing a murderous, raping, pedophile, genocide game than actually going out into the world and hurting anyone. And if playing said game KEEPS them from hurting anyone? Then it's a DAMN fine game IMNSHO.

No intelligent person would buy something like this. Game is total garbage (judging from poor 3D models and rather dumb discription by the author, that suggest the story is also dumb).

There are far better rape games. Including ones on Steam.

That sounds as if you have a lot of experience with the genre.
Looks like Britain wants to prevent the making of such games in the first place. They now want to police speech in other countries (well, they always have - never been able to let go of imperialism it seems).

Could say the same thing about the Transformers movies.. yet they rake in tons of money...

Sometimes you want a game or movie where you don't have to think you can just shut off for a while.

There is a difference between a story being simplistic and outright dumb. First two Transformer moives, primitive as the were, were actually very thoughtful and had their interlal logic and consistency. It was quite interesting how the cartoon plot was reimagined as invasion story. But after that, new movies were just a rehashing of ideas of the first dilogy.

As for RD, even the discription on the store page was bland and uninteresting, compared to some other VN discriptions. If author couldn't manage to do even that, what were the chances about the story itself being any good?
My problem with the situation is how people chose to bandwagon over this VN because of what they "think" was the horrible content it would contain. The VN was not released. There was merely a description and a few screenshots/scenes and they let their imagination run wild with it. And in turn tried to defame Valve/Steam about this title that they actually knew very little about. It is very reminiscent of what happened with Hatred where they campaigned about it based on a couple edgy trailers. And Hatred turned out to be rather tame and failed because of gameplay blandness/game mechanic weirdness/and poor game balance.

It may have been deservedly removed from Steam, but that doesn't excuse the crazy "offenditrons" who think they have a right to shame and brigade to get their way.

A couple years ago i TRIED to rewatch the first movie and couldn't. It was so stupid. And hacking the military computer thing was totally unrealistic.

Only thing that Transformers has for it, is it's nostalgia (which is probably fading).

I can't remember any of the cartoon unfortunately. :(

Don't know. Regardless unless it has blatantly illegal content, i wouldn't censor or prevent it from being on Steam. The fact it is being talked about for what it is, is getting FAR more attention and probably purchases, than say if it were quietly just put on steam and ignored.

And have you seen realistic hacking anywhere? Also, lack of realism =/= stupidity. Lord of the Rings is not realistic in any way, but would you call it stupid?

Actually, removing it from Steam was totally justified as with so much controversy and lack of quality the game was totally "clear trolling".

On the other hand, right now Pay Pal and Master Card blocked the guy. Which is indeed is unwarranted censorship on payment processors part.

Hackers did a good job. They were going over papers and dissecting the data of the download; Of course it was time lapse over like 6-12 hours. Other than that, probably no good examples of hacking, because it's visually boring.

But I'm mostly talking about the sheer number of combinations the machine was doing/querying/brute forcing, which was FASTER than the CYCLES the computer actually could do per second. Let's assume you have a 1Ghz machine, and super optimized software where you could get a response in 1 cycle if a password was correct or not. You can't then shove 500 Billion passwords a second when it can process only 1 Billion. It's just not possible.

Maybe it's the little things that annoy me, especially consistency and logic.

I tend to agree with you on this. Without seeing the content it's hard to judge how bad it actually is. There are several games that have rape scenes in them and they are used in legitimate ways within the context of the plot. That being said, from what I saw, the dev was doing his best to court the controversy surrounding his game and thus likely brought this upon himself. If you go out there and try to pretend you're putting out a super edgy game to offend everyone than you deserve the ban... cause that action on the devs part meets the criteria of just straight up trolling.
