It’s an impeccable action adventure horror game with a deeply atmospheric and compelling setting, challenging gameplay, exceptional level design and it’s filled with a sense of incredible adventure, secrets and mystery.

Brilliant world of Shadow Man remains as immersive as it is sinister, and if you enjoy old-school action adventure style titles that will put your gaming skills to use and fill you with immense satisfaction, it is just the title for you.

And if you’d like to take a deep dive into the game’s mechanics, narrative, story, qualities and everything in between, we highly recommend RagnarRox’s video about the game, where he talks about why he loves its world design and how the joy of getting totally lost and finding your way again makes it a super-engaging, addicting early-3D-platformer open world action adventure.

There’s no time to waste, grab your copy of Shadow Man Remastered with a -38% flash deal discount and experience an absolute classic in its full glory!

CarChris: I had tried to play it many years ago (over 15), not the remastered version of course, and I couldn't get my bearings. Where I am? Where I must go? We' re talking about labyrinthine levels!
I don't know which is worse in this aspect, this game or Summoner!!
I don't know if things are better in the remastered version, but I don't dare to try out. I'm talking about trauma conditions!

SpellSword: Which version did you play? There were some differences in the map layout on the console versions that may have made things more (Or less) confusing.

For example if I remember correctly the N64 version had reduced map sizes with many of the optional paths either removed or shortened.
I only own a PC. I don't want anything else.

SpellSword: ..., does anyone know if they've added anything more recently?
avatar
Oddeus: They are continously updating the game. Here is just a brief excerpt from the last patch:

V1.5 - 2022-11-27
=================
New difficulty, "The Horror", can be selected when starting a new adventure. This difficulty contains many changes to make the adventure more challenging.
These are some of the changes (other changes not mentioned to avoid spoilers):
- More enemies and deadly obstacles have been added in all levels.
- Shadow man receives twice the damage.
- The Shadow gun deals less damage and no longer leaves Lifeforce drops after killing enemies. (Start using your Voodoo weapons!)
- Almost all enemies now have at least one extra attack or action.
- Enemies no longer recoil, and are stronger, faster, better.

Enemy Changes:
- Added Seraph and Seraph Queen
- Added Deadworm in various locations throughout Deadside.
- Added 2 new Surgeon baddy variants based on the original concept art: the "Painkiller" and the "Sentinel"

Texture Changes:
- Added new option to toggle Dreamcast Water textures and texture smoothing.
- 78 more pages of concept art have been added in the Book of Shadows.

General Changes:
- Added 2 new Achievements
- Added a new Voodoo weapon
- Added 3 new secrets to unlock in the secrets menu.

And that's just 1% of the patch notes.
The level of work that went into this. I wish more companies would bring this kind of work to the remasters of more games.
I'm confused. Didn't GOG already release this game a long time ago (that is, the Remastered version, not the original version), and with missing Achievements at that time? (I remember how the store page for the Remastered version originally listed Achievements as a feature in the text description on the store page, but they soon deleted that text after they decided not to give GOG customers Achievements for that release).
Shadowman Remastered was released some time ago. I think the announcement for the cut content is more for the most recent patch. Which just released a month ago and adds a lot of new content.

Shadowman does have achievements as far as I recall. the recent patch notes list two new ones as being added.

I have only played the game with out Galaxy so dont know how they work there but I seem to recall there are also in game achievements independent of any client. I need to double check. But I could be mistaken. I never seem to pay much attention to them. I definitely remember some pop ups happening when finding hidden items and unlock-able features.

Eh, probably gonna pull the trigger on this one. When, if not at the lowest historical price across all stores. 10 bucks seems like a fair price for a remaster some effort obviously went into.

I only hope that it's not going to be 40% off the next sale :P

The current discount is the best the game has received so far.

Yes, that is what I said :/

Kunovski: what?! there's a map?!

I've played the game massively when it originally came out
When it came out, the retail version had a large printed paper map included. So, what version did you play then? :-O
I'll wait till it hits $10. Nightdive might do a better job than Beamdog but I HATE that they force you to buy the remaster to get the original which makes them as big of jerks as them.

Actually, I just checked and the original is NOT included in the Remaster. So if you hadn't bought it before it got pulled, you can no longer get it.

In this case not having the original is no loss as the remastered version beats the old one in every aspect (controls, graphics, resolutions and framerate, available content etc.).

What is lost is the option of being able to see/play the game in its original form, which is quite significant. What better way to evaluate a remaster than comparing with the original.

I don't care that much, as I have it on a CD and also have the original here on GOG, but I would definitely mind otherwise. No matter the game, I will always play the original even if a remaster or whatever of it exists, at least once. Or in some cases, only. I am still alwas playing Titan Quest Gold instead of Anniversary Edition for example.

I loved Shadowman back in the day. Like Bloodrayne and Tomb Raider. That janky control feeling.

as unbelievable as it might sound, it was an original game :D it was bundled to a gaming magazine (which was quite common here back in the day)... so, no map ;)
I wonder if they'll remaster the sequel?
