words literally fail me
what is the bloody point of this ?
was it really so hard to have the game save locally ?

and its not even Ea this time but take 2

you can save offline but its still bullshit that this even happend
its ridicilous that an 18 month old game get its servers yanked so early

and people wonder why i avoid cloud storage

and yet another reason to shun online gaming
shun shuuun

ahem

Must have been run by the real life Knicks.
I read this some minutes ago and thought of posting it under something like "Good News® of DRM". A thread of DRM related clusterf***s
:)
That really bites for those who love playing the game.

1) Is this Take 2's "nice" way of telling people to buy NBA2K15?
2) Proof that: Online requirement for single player save == DRM
3) Another company for my personal blacklist :S

I haven't played a licensed sports games since NBA Live 2000...
Oh wait, I have Mario & Sonic at Winter Olympics 2010.
The last B-Ball game I played was admittedly in Mario Sports Mix - I can steal all I want and no personal foul in sight ;)

2K has apparently extended the life of the online servers for at least 9 more months, but this never should have happened in the first place, especially since 2K previously said the save files would be converted to offline saves.
Because in their eyes you're not playing a game, you're playing a service. Services come with conditions that games do not. It's not a mechanical problem, it is a fundamental concept problem. Too many people asking how? or when?, when they should be asking who? Or even better, why?

That's also the mindset of EA (paying for a service) and they have shut down quite a lot of servers, but I don't see reports of corrupted/non-functional saves for the single-player modes. 2K dropped the ball on this one.
Another example why I never liked all this cloud gaming crazyness in the first place, you can't call something yours unless you can run it and play it on a perfectly offline system.

Still hoping 2K change their minds and release the full BioShock big daddy army and Civilization on GOG.
