Thanks Jimmy.
*wondering to myself* "When did this happen? Did I miss something?"

Nope. Looks like this got released today.
Serious Sam 1&2 Linux port finally after 100 years? You can't be serious...
Sweet, it is always nice to see devs opening up their code to the community.

At least we can dream. :)

As this seems to be related to Serious Sam Classics: Revolution, will we see that on GOG too? And will it be handled like on Steam?

"Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is a standalone product and it is completely free to those Steam users that already own both original Serious Sam Classic games on Steam (Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and Serious Sam Classic: The Second Encounter)."

That's generally how it works when they don't make the whole game freeware. You can use the engine, but playing the game requires assets that aren't included in the source.

I know. The question is: Will Serious Sam Classics: Revolution come to GOG and will it be given for free to the owners of the classic games like it's done on Steam.

They should do it like what OpenXCom is to UFO:EU. Serious engine is technically outdated, but it looks like regular codedrop. Perhaps something cooks out of it over time, in a matter similar to ioquake.

That's a good question. The devs of Painkiller didn't go that route, the newer version had to be bought separately.

Personally, I won't be buying a second copy of those games, I probably wouldn't have bought the first copy if I had known how much I hated arena shooters.
I'm surprised. And it's even under a proper FOSS license. Too bad SS is such a boring game.

Bitch Please.
I play Serious Sam more than any casual shooter.
And yet, Croteam don't want to add more games to GOG.
An old topic, yet worth gravedigging: apparently someone actually created a heroic port of SeSa engine to Linux. Advertized to work with both TFE and SE.

Is anyone interested in trying it out?
