sousvideer: Hi nightcraw1er, I will report to the link you sent thank you.
for the past few years I have only used offline installers. I miss clicked for SS4 and it installed galaxy when I had walked away (I play off line single player). Once I returned and noticed I uninstalled galaxy and began downloading the offline installers as usual.
There might/must be some trace of this still on my system?
nightcraw1er.488: Yeah, have a look around, might be some traces left behind. If the offline installers give you them same problem, then I can check my copy by unplugging the internet cable, but I would be suprised (though not very), if it was phoning home. There have been some others that try that for varying reasons, was it victor gran which phoned home to get latest news? Anyways, you should simply be able to block those and the game work, if not it a serious issue that gog need to fix.
More testing.. When it crashes and produces this message, if I click the SS4 icon in the task bar - the game is available to play (even played a few levels!!), the crash bug reporting window is still open.
Two notes on the crash reporting - there might be a tye in some how? Bugzilla (which I do not have) is asking for a login to send a report and croteam dev bug reporter also attempts 50% of the time; some how between the crash reporting and the game it disables alt-tabbing (yes I did the termial cmd to disable this, something I found digging in the GOG forum) from functioning. I am able to alt-tab and run task manager, but it is un-selectable. Computer must be restarted at this point.
When I am able to access the game, adjusting settings (either AA or 3d render) really causes it to lock ;)
I ahve submitted a full report to Croteam/GOG. will keep this thread updated this progress.
Overall, still love GOG. This is the first challenge with one of their games in anyway (out of 43? owned).
