There are quite a lot of racing games i wish were here, specially since they don't have licensed tracks or cars

Stuff like Screamer Rally, Ultim@te Race Pro, Motorhead,...

Of course, i wouldn't mind having some of my favourites likes the Rally Championship series and Colin McRae Rally 2.0 as well, but that's probably impossible. The same goes for Nascar Racing, Indycar Racing, TOCA and Grand Prix series.

Time4Tea: I'm not a huge fan of racing (or sports) games myself, but it seems odd to me they are so absent from the indie scene.
Well, art of rally is coming "soon".

Just found a demo, if anyone is interested. It's a top-down view racing game, it seems nicely done.

And that's a very good news, thank you! :-)

Looks good!
The fact that many people seem to bring this question time after time, indicates some interest in racing games.
The licensing may indeed be a big problem but there is probably some options left.

I usually don't like arcade style in racing games but the Trackmania series were a good mix (Nations still available for free here.
Papyrus stuff would be great and SimBin still sell some games on Steam.

What would really be great was Richard Burns Rally, even in a stripped version (without most lincesed content) and it seems there's still a huge demand for the game, probably the biggest factor on some 2nd hand CD prices.

Live for Speed is still one of my favorite racing games, although it has some DRM.

Darvond: Okay, you try listing a driving game that doesn't have one of the following:

Licensed Car
Licensed Music
Licensed Likeness
Fuel; I was going to mention it without quoting anyone, but it fits all criteria: basically preteen's first Mad Max with all-custom car designs, garage-caliber soundtrack that elephants would forget, and I wouldn't even call the drivers "characters" -much less lookalikes.
a good new for rally style fans...
i used to play some of them long ago back on dreamcast (sega rally 2, V rally 2 also, and another one i cant remember the name but that was quite cuten even featuring retro cars iirc)

but yup, aside from the two flatout, grid 1 that disappeared from gog, and some very different titles (carmaggeddon, that is too far away from a traditionnal arcade racing game for me, the game recently released with monster trucks, etc... and futuristic ones like trailblazers, or redout - which is quite challenging and in no way "arcady")

i understand car and music licensing is a pain
i dont understand, on the other hand, why 10+ years old titles with no licensed material of that kind ever reached here yet...
I dont understand either why there were no indie in the last decade of indie bloom, with imaginary cars as well...

quite sad, quite frustrating... i have Split/Second and Blur on my old x360, but i'd gladly have some similar stuff 1) on pc and 2) drm free... i'm even nearly starting to miss NFS most wanted (nearly is key word)

i recently tried less old games like nfs rivals or nfs payback, the crew, and such, from a recent sales... and ... and i couldnt have fun with that, frankly !

I would love to have on GOG so that i could play again what were for me the epitome of racing games: Need For Speed 2 Special Edition (NFS2SE) (1997) and Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (1998), even without the music.

They are the best that I have played. Wacky Wheels was another classic, but that is on GOG.
