Am I the only one who thinks this is bullshit?

For $10 (usd) I can get a lot more music online than one game soundtrack. Even if we lived in a world where there was actually good music in game soundtracks (yes, some wonderful exceptions do exist) and not just the generic stuff we get, why pay for it instead of music you know you like and can listen to anywhere?

I must be missing the point somewhere.

Licences, peoples wages (ie the musicians), stuff like that and other "common sense*".

Oh look, an arrow!

Seems that way.

The Song of birds, sound of waterfall, breeze of wind, rustling of leaves is free. You can record them as you like with your phone. Why pay for music at all?

I hope your knee heels okay, but it looks like your adventuring days are over.

I guess knee heels would make any kind of adventuring pretty difficult.
Since I don't care about buying soundtracks... but for Gal Civ 3 without sountrack it's more expensive than with it. Wth... Anyway I'll wait for a more complete edition.

How so? The basic edition currently costs €11.69 and the special edition (with the soundtrack) costs €13.39.

Depends. I don't think it's bullshit. We're over the times where game music was made with a keyboard, in the basement. Soundtracks are made by artists, full bands, choirs, and these artists needs to get payed fair for what they do, but also get exposure as an artists separately for the game. Many composers that create music for video games are new, unknown composers, and they need all the attention they can get to get things started.

It mixes well with indie wave that we're into right now, as it helps a little with keeping the base games cheaper. As let's be honest, some of these indie games are nice, but, as consumer, i would not pay $20 on an game that last 2 hours, but i would pay 5$, maybe get some DLC if i really enjoyed the game, or even soundtrack.

And there's also the access. I can buy Chrono Trigger or Legend of Zelda soundtracks without buying the actual game, and that's great, as i don't own an NES system and even if i would, it would probably do not satisfy my needs to just listen
to those awesome scores.

It works with movies the similar way. Big titles will have big artists with good soundtracks. Those artists should be able to sell their work separately.

Ah crap, I wasn't paying attention, I meant Gal Civ :)
Wish there was a way on GOG to check out the tracks on a game soundtrack without having to buy the game (and its not available easily from elsewhere like Bandcamp)

I wish GOG offered more game soundtracks.
Separate purchases would be great.

Yes, personally I don't mind this so much as not interested in the additional bits. What annoys me more is when they release a part finished game, then sell the other parts of as day 1 DLC. That's why I avoid season passes, and games where they have day 1 DLC.
