Wesley_de_Waart: If I get nothing within a month I'm pulling the plug. This forum thread has been amazing but the way we are being left in the dark is far too frustrating and makes me hesitant to work together.
I've no idea what's going on at the moment Wesley and I am sorry to hear about your experience as a developer. It's like GOG are severely short-staffed in almost every department with regular abnormally long response times to both customers and developers alike. (I'm the one who started this thread and I definitely like the look of both your game and GZDoom based games in general).

Personally, I'd always rather support actual DRM-Free stores given the choice (and I've never liked game clients in general), but if it comes to it and GOG turns you down a second time / keeps ignoring are you planning to release the Steam version without DRM? Not every potential GOG customer will buy it there but quite a few people here who read this list will. GZDoom is pretty DRM-Free friendly anyway.
So my reward for being a loyal GOG customer is being denied access on this site to this absolutely fantastic looking shooter. Meanwhile, one drab release replaces another on a daily basis, like a very slow Itch.Io 5$ sale minus the 990 extra games. If this is the shape of things to come, I will start taking my GOG money elsewhere.
Another supporting vote here.
Yeah, it's pretty shameful at this point. How come a game like this gets no response when tons of other, decidedly lower quality games get approved without issues. We even have Hedon here, which is, in principle, pretty much the same thing (a GZDoom mod).

This really does not give off a good vibe @GOG. At least say no, if for whatever reason you don't want to approve it. Don't just stand there and pretend nothing is happening.

GOG really should be a one stop shop for these retro FPS's, making it as easy as possible for people to engage the boomer shooter craze while it lasts, both dev's and customers.
I'm a bit disappointed as I'll probably have to go to Steam for a lot of my boomer shooter purchases.
Get on it, GOG! It's a perfect fit for your store, imo.

Wesley_de_Waart: Still nothing.

I must admit that I'm completely discouraged by this point. A 3 month wait is unacceptable and given how the automated email states that, after 2 weeks of not hearing anything, it is safe to assume that they (GOG) decided to 'pass on the game'. Fast-forward to 3 months later and we got nothing.

I've heard from other developers that the 2 week period is completely inaccurate and it baffles me that this has not been addressed / corrected on their end. An automated email is easy to adjust. Or, a simple ''Hey, sorry that's its taking so long, we will get back to you asap'' after a lengthy waiting period would have been nice, just something to inform developers that they are not being ignored, but we get absolutely nothing from GOG. No update, no notice about traffic being heavier than expected, no estimate that is even remotely accurate. We are completely left in the dark not knowing if we should continue waiting or if they declined our game and that it's game over.

I know that we are in a pandemic, I know that many indie developers are submitting their titles, but for god sake GOG it has not been just a couple of weeks. It has been months!

In a previous post I said that I would not re-submit Selaco because I don't want to flood them any further knowing how busy they are, but I've become increasingly impatient with this non-sense and decided to re-submit anyway.

If I get nothing within a month I'm pulling the plug. This forum thread has been amazing but the way we are being left in the dark is far too frustrating and makes me hesitant to work together with them.
Sorry to hear that, I was really hoping to see Selaco here, the game looks awesome franckly. I send a message to the support staff, hope they can help in some way, the curation staff is a shit show at this point. I really sorry for all your troubles, you are really trying to support us and already make a great effort. If the game arrive I will buy two copies.
high rated
Shameful. Absolutely shameful.
Complete lack of professionalism. It seems that GOG lately is too intent in shooting itself in the foot with a machine gun to care about anything else.

If it is any consolation, I'll get the game anyway
... elsewhere. This place is just not worth time and money anymore. It wanted to be "The Alternative", but now it's a collection of issues at best.

Unbelievable that they're STILL going with this awful and, as this once again clearly demonstrates, business-damaging 2 weeks-deadline bullshit.
I don't want to imagine how many devs that aren't as understanding or patient already got fed up and as a result won't release any of their present as well as future games on GoG, period.

Fucking finally have curation prioritise games whose devs are willing to release on GoG and don't need to be convinced or courted + have a decent number of community wishlist votes under their belt.
You're losing out on easy money here, GoG.

And fucking finally get rid of that 2 weeks-response deadline after which the game in question can be assumed rejected.
Is there nobody in GoG's BizDev department that can't see how stupid and damaging for business relations this really is?

Is it even possible to add DRM to games that use GZDoom? Or at least legal, since some open source projects require that no DRM must be used?

Asking because I don't remember having seen any games that use the Doom/Doom 2 engine or variants that have DRM.

Sorry to hear that you still haven't heard anything back yet, it must be very frustrating. Thank you for the effort you have put in to try to get it released here, it would be a day one purchase from me for sure. Hopefully, GOG will finally see some sense and contact you because I feel many GOG users would definitely be interested in this game.

The 'This Is Fine' meme comes to mind.
The room not being completely engulfed in flames yet though, but with a couple small, still easily extinguishable fires burning on the carpet/floor.

Hopefully GOG is going to come to their senses again, and in time. Would be a shame for Selaco to fall through the cracks because of GOG's ignorance, deliberate (for whatever unfathomable reason) or not.

Dear Wesley, please reconsider. You sent the form to GOG previously at least twice and it was ignored. Then some of us *chased* GOG moderators asking them to pass the information to the managers, Zan, the developer of Hedon, also contributed. And as a result GOG reached you in the end:

"I have finally received an email from GOG and decided to bail on the idea of getting our game on there for now. Before they fully approve us they want us to:

1. Send them a playable build. This alone is completely out of question and just plain ridiculous. We should not have to send playable builds in order for our game to arrive in the store.

2. Be more specific about our launch and its future plans (Early Access, DLC etc). Which, also, is none of their business right now. If Steam does not ask these questions, neither should GOG."

Could you please clarify if the above 2 requirements can be fulfilled on your end. And if you have an option to reply to that GOG email you received previously in order to get a swift reply instead of waiting for some form to be ignored again.

Both been addressed in the submission itself, with an offer for a playable build.

Indeed when we submitted it last year we did not have a playable build available (which, remind you, it also took nearly 3 months for them to reach out to us, and got an email riddled with unprofessional language and spelling errors).

Emails have been sent back & forth around that time.

It's good to hear, yet it's safe to assume that your latest submission form was *lost*. That's why I specifically asked if it's possible for a direct reply to that email from GOG itself you got in July.

EDIT: I see, the emails were sent. It's a shame really that GOG didn't respond.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Will do! But first I sleep. It's only uhh.. *looks at the time*, 5AM here in The Netherlands!
