Being as SEGA don't like having their games sold on GOG, i guess we might never see Endless Space, Endless Space 2 and Endless Legend sold here.

This is disappointing news. Means I won't be able to buy any of the Endless games any more =( Was looking forward to Endless Space 2 as well.

Were TW games and Relic games ever sold in Japan? (Even before Sega aquired CA and Relic in 2005 and 2013 respectively.). Because if they weren't, it may be different for Amplitiude games if they have been sold in Japan before.
Yeah, GOG needs to hurry up and just bring Sega on-board. That'd unlock Sega, Relic, Creative Assembly, and now Amplitude. It's like... the biggest new publisher they could possibly get.

We got two of the Total War games. But only because we kept complaining the Make War Not Love promo was less than meaningful when we could only get one of the games in it.

Dawn of War? We got all the non-SEGA ones. Whether we get ones published first by SEGA unlikely.

This is a company that goes out of its way to remove its presence on Steam in Japan. Even the 5 or 6 games from them we can get have had all reference to SEGA removed from the store page.

Likewise with Bandai Namco. When they buy up indie studios, we no longer get that studio's games -- even if we could buy previous games.

I'm confused. Why would they do this if they're PC-only games and not available outside of Steam? Makes no fucking sense.

Doesn't really make sense to me. They should be proud that they own such quality western developers (Because all CA and Relic games are good IMO.), instead of trying to hide it. Even if not many buy them in Japan, it'll be easy money too as long as they make more money than it cost to localise them.

I wish I knew. But then they're Japanese. I guess it's a thing to try your best to upset your customers. Again, Bandai Namco are the winners there. They announce on game specific sites aimed at Japanese audiences that Steam versions exist. Then also state on same sites (in small print) that they're aren't selling Steam versions to Japanese customers. Why even say they exist then!? Or what about Capcom Japan that at one point owned the rights to several indie games on PC. Refused to sell them in Japan because they didn't want to provide support. Then why did you obtain the rights!?

In short: Japanese publishers be bat shit crazy.
What? Sega was supposed to be in poor (economic) shape and face potential bankruptcy. How the hell was this decided to happen?
While I enjoy Amplitude's games I doubt I will buy anything from them because of Sega which I kinda dislike for sometime now.

I cant stop wondering what made the purchase possible though... well time to dig into the interwebz.
Brace for DLC's....But seriously, why Sega did this?! It's not like they lack studios or franchises....
Just out of curiosity...

If SEGA went bankrupt all of a sudden, does that mean that the Total War and Endless franchises would get in "limbo" and stop being sold everywhere?

Not likely. Total War, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes and Endless are completely in Sega's hands now. For TW, Sega managed to recover the rights for the first Shogun and Medieval games (previously the publishing rights belonged to EA and Activision). Their older games might be of concern, though.

If Sega goes bankrupt, the franchises will, probably, be sold to the highest bidder. The games might not be sold for a while, but io doubt that anyone will get popular IP's just to sit on them.
