It's fun to dream, but Night Dive is mostly bluster. I'll believe it when I see it.
Interesting. I have never really had a great deal of interest in the original myself, but maybe this complete purchase of the rights could lead to something even better. Either a sequel or a remake of the first game(s). As much love as their is for the sequel (including by me) there's no point in denying that the right people could seriously improve upon it.

If they did remake it or do a sequel, irony would abound and people would claim they were ripping off bioshock.

I've been immune to such remarks since I heard some kid say that The Beatles were ripping off Britney Spears.

But a true System Shock sequel should bear no real parallel with Bioshock - which come the end of its development was a shooter above all else. If Bioshock was at all the game they originally planned then yeah, you could expect that. It was a very different beast with some interesting options.
It's time to unbury an immortalized mile-stone in gaming I guess :P

Prah: At least according to SEE EDIT which tells us that someone has acquired the rights for the System Shock franchise.
For what? We don't know yet...

EDIT: Wow I even linked the wrong link haha, although the article is good I meant THIS LINK
That's great news! Hopefully, they just have to optimize it, and then they can release it on GOG.
System Shock 1 MUST come here.

Btw, it's one of the few games that could have benefited from a (good) remake. Imagine that last Alien game with free roam, many enemies and weapon, some puzzles and a cool plot :P
Seems like I was right....
