Is someone else having problems with this option?
From all the games I have installed, only 2 were detected (Terraria, Wasteland 2).
I'll have to reinstall everything?
This question / problem has been solved by cogadhimage
Have you tried adding them manually?
Also as far as I read that feature is still being worked on, so perhaps just wait for an update.
How do you search manually? I have not yet found that option
You have to do it one game at a time. Go into each game page in your library and click on the "More" button. One of those option will allow you to specify the games full install directory to look in.
'Did not find any games to import' is all that appears.
What game are you trying to get it to detect? Are you certain you specified the full install directory of the game, and not just the main GOG Games directory?

I tried with the Hitman games.

almabrds: Can you post a image please? I didn't found this. I think when the client updated automatically, some files didn't download properly (I had to restart the program two times for the version change to 1.0.0.871).

Unfortunately, since all my games are already installed/detected, the menu options change, so I can't get an actual image or verify the text of the menu myself. However, the basic steps are this:
1. In your library, click on the game card for the game you want to detect. This should show you the game page with the big blue Install button and a More button next to it
2. Click on the More button, then Manage > Import Folder
3. Browse through the file tree to the game's full install directory, such as C:/GOG Games/Hitman and click OK

Galaxy should now detect that specific game. You will have to repeat the process for each individual game that Galaxy failed to detect.

You're a saint! Thank you! :)
Is there any danger of losing saved games by doing this? I ask because it's (apparently) reinstalling my games (downloading large files).
Okay, I started Hitman 2, and the saves are still there, no progress lost. Whew!

It's not actually downloading a large file, its doing a verification check of the files already on your system and downloading a small uninstall file for Galaxy to use in the future, if you ever decide to uninstall the game. It may download some game data if it finds anything corrupt or missing during the verification, but it should not be redonwloading the whole thing.

Ah, ok.
I assumed it was downloading again, since it said 'downloading' and was taking forever to complete! :p

Thank you, that worked for me as well!

Complaint: it's redownloading redist files..

NOTE TO MODDERS!

Pathologic and Children of the Nile, I used both a HD/Texture mod and I had to reinstall them to get them to work. I can see them in Galaxy now but I won't be able to verify.

Your temporary download folder probably is set to a SSD with few space left. Set it to your HD and your are fine (manage folders manually).
