It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

when i first clicked on firefox today, a box opened up saying i needed to install an important update and i clicked ok reflexively because it did look legit. then a box popped up saying i was about to install an add on from a third party (not mozilla) and that was when i just closed firefox. since, i have opened firefox several times and not had that happen again.

does this sound like a scam/breach to you or was it likely a legit and possible important add on that i need to install?

i went to firefox website and coukd not find any mention of this.

it's set on auto updates for add ons. thing is i have only 3 add ons and i don't think the one listed today was one of them. but my memory sucks and i could be wrong.

added sorry for all lower case letters but i've had some serious health problems, spent two months hospitalized, amd i've basically lost the use of my left hand.

I switched to Chrome 5 years ago and never looked back.
Not sure if you figured it out through the Add-On Manager. If not...

... (and since you only have 3 Add-Ons)...

... I'd revert Firefox to default and then add your Add-Ons again.

Personally, I would probably run an anti-virus program as well... just in case.

Hope you get things figured out!

A good rule of thumb is to never click random links in boxes saying to update this or that(browser, some program like flash player, etc).

(In most case I usually only install updates from the official sites at regular intervals)

Also am seconding Kai2's suggestion to use various AV scanners to check your system.
