I don't know WHY all your saves are gone(!!!!)

Maybe you weren't playing it through Galaxy - but how should I know.

Just to cover the bases: did you launch and play the game through Galaxy previously? Did you reinstall Galaxy on the new machine and launch the game through it as well?

I don't know anything about cloudsaving but I would check the old HDD in such a case; probably got saved locally there. I wish you luck that the HDD is not part of the broke down section.
Try looking in the Downloads section of your hard drive. A lot of Saves for games get stored there.

Start > Documents > Downloads.

Start > Documents > Downloads.
"Start" is not a section of a hard drive and save games are almost never saved in a folder called downloads.

I never said 'Start' is a section of the hard drive.
And I often find games Saves in my Downloads section.
I seem to recall that one can download any cloud saves GOG has in the Extras section of the game card in your GOG library (please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've not used the cloud feature). But just to be sure: for how long has GOG cloud saves been a thing?

EDIT:
I looked it up myself:

"If you want to download a backup copy of your cloud saves, please open the library entry of the game in question, click on "More" and choose "Backups & Goodies" in the dropdown menu. The cloud saves are available under "Cloud Saves Backup Copy"."

EDIT AGAIN:

Looking at it, it would seem this support article isn't up to date, as 'Backups and Goodies' no longer is a section in the *More' dropdown list; maybe it's found under 'Download Offline Backup Installers' underneath the big blue 'Download and Install Now' button.

YA IT'S ME AGAIN:

And I'm gonna do something radical and try to quote a later post:

How about being a bit more specific: name a few of those games.

Cloud saves via Galaxy has only been around for about a year, if your PC broke about a year ago it could have been before cloud saves were added.

I'm curious as well. I've never found a save game in Downloads for any game I've ever played.

Do you still have the old PC? There's a pretty good chance you can just get the saves off your old hard drive (depending on how the old PC broke and what you've done with it since).

Me neither. Documents certainly, but not Downloads.

This is going to be another one of those threads where the OP never comes back isn't it? I hope they prove me wrong though.

Did you perchance play "Witcher 3 and all expansions" and now install "Witcher 3 GOTY" (which get for free if you buy everything)? Those are "technically" different games. So if you want your cloud saves back, install exactly the version you were using before.
